"When will you be back by?" Imaan asks me as I'm currently finishing the repairs on a clients car. It was almost a few days since we'd had our Nikkah done which was so crazy. I have a wife, not to mention the girl of my dreams.
Alhamdulilah.
"I should be back by 5, that should give me enough time to get ready for the mendhi in time. Is that okay, baby?" I reply, not realising that my boss, Imaan's Sasa Abdul (uncle) was standing next to me.
Turning my cap to see him better, he just shakes his head whilst I tried to hold my laugh in.
"But it starts at 7, I'm worried you won't make it in time Sami." She replies as her Sasa takes the phone from my hands.
"Hmm, I see that you've been busy with getting my favourite employee preoccupied, Imaan." He says, jokingly as I put the wrench down.
I've been working for Sasa Abdul since my apprenticeship when I turned 19 and 4 years later I'm still here.
When I found out Imaan was his niece I immediately told him about my intentions even before we'd even spoken and I'd first seen her at my little sister, Noor's Mendhi.
He knew that I was serious and offered to come with me to talk to her Dad and today it was our mendhi day.
"Sasa-" she tries to say but he already cuts her off.
"Listen beta the nagging wife role can wait till after the wedding okay? I'll make sure he arrives on time." Sasa Abdul assures Imaan.
"Okay Sasa, Thank you." She replies with a sigh.
"Asalamulaikum." He finally says before ending the call.
Looking to me with a brow raised, he takes a moment to look back at the car. "It's already 4, you think the car will be fixed in that time?"
Nodding, I take the wrench back in my hand and get back to work.
"Listen, it's fine I'll do it, you go and just relax it's your mendhi day after all." Sasa says after putting the phone back in my hand and taking the wrench out.
"You sure? I really don't mind-" I ask, running a hand over my face.
"Positive, now go before I ask you to fix Mr Hassan's limousine on your day off!" He jokingly tells me, pushing me out the door.
Yep, I was off. Khalils father's limo was a pain in the backside to fix so I wasn't going to argue with Sasa.
"Give your friends my Salam by the way!" Sasa calls out, making me knit my brows together.
"What friends-" I say before I see a familiar black BMW in my view.
