Performance in the mm^^^Beyoncé sat in the makeup chair with a slight scowl on her face. She completely ignored the other girls who were singing scales to warm up their voices. Her mind was in performance mode and quite frankly, she was unimpressed with the harmonizing the girls were doing. "Umm Toya, you're flat" she corrected, cringing as the harmonies clashed for a split second.
Letoya looked at Bey for a second before rolling her eyes playfully. "You're such a perfect pitch freak, Bey," she said before trying again. Beyoncé shrugged, listening to them carefully. She didn't play when it came to live performances. Or music period. She knew just how bad people prayed on her downfall, and wasn't willing to prove them right. Their dressing room door opened and Matthew poked his head through, eyeing the girls suspiciously. "Why it's quiet in hea?" He questioned in his heavy southern drawl.
The girls eyed each other through the mirror, utterly confused. "Nobody was doing nothing they not supposed to if that's what you thinking. You just want a reason to be mad" Beyoncé rolled her eyes as the makeup artist touched up on her lips. Matthew mirrored her eye roll, smacking his lips in annoyance.
"Dat ain what I'm sayin' guh. You just told on ya'self baldhead heffa" he spat.
All the girls looked at each other and stifled laughs. Beyoncé definitely got her attitude from her dad, and it was actually pretty funny to see. When he wasn't being an overbearing, control-freak, abusive piece of shit of a manager he was actually a pretty cool dad. Well, he could be, he had his moments.
"I'm saying why I don't hear no sangin? Yall on in five" Matthew said looking around at the girls who were looking at him stupidly. He sucked his teeth once again and stepped fully into the dressing room. He brought his big rough hands together and did 3 loud claps, motioning for them to hurry up. "Get to it. Lemme hear sum" he ordered.
Beyoncé rolled her eyes, but snapping her fingers at a slow tempo nonetheless. "First note of No.. and hold it" she began counting them off before holding her hands out, motioning for them to sustain the note. The harmony was smooth, but once it was steady she came in with her strong vocals, her sound being the most apparent out of the 4. "Ok now let's sing the verse, stay at this tempo though. Kelly open your mouth a bit rounder when you say nO. Cause it's sounding like you're saying nuh nuh nuh, yknow?" Beyoncé corrected with her spot-on musical ear.
They began singing the song as they prepared themselves for the stage. They checked their hair, makeup, and outfits and made sure everything looked perfect before heading out the dressing room, singing the song for only them to hear as they moved through the busy backstage crew.
