6 MONTHS LATER
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
[[OMNISCIENT]]"BEYONCÉ STOP CAKING ON THE PHONE AND COME ON" Kelly shouted from across the room, as Beyoncé covered the phone with her hand and shot Kelly a glare. "Shut up" she mouthed as she put the phone back to her ear.
"Yeah babe, I told you were doing this photo shoot right now... No seriously, we been taking pictures for the last two weeks... No, that was the No, No, No single shoot. It's already released... Aweeee you have it? Lyndie I miss you more..."
"BEYONCÉ!" Latavia shouted this time and Bey sucked in a heavy breath. "I'M COMING GEEZ! Lyndell I'll call you back later okay?... Yeah, I love you too."
With that, she hung up the phone and rushed over to the group who watched her with attitude. "Who pissed in yall cereal" she joked.
They all groaned, ignoring her remark as they posed for the camera. Occasionally, their stylist and makeup artist came and adjusted their dresses or fixed their hair.
Their days were like this. Filled with pictures from the moment they stepped outside to the time they were in the comforts of their own homes. They were harassed by paparazzi daily. Asking questions about the girl's career and the Jackson 5. They could hardly get fresh air without being bombarded by a crowd. They dropped the remastered version of No, No, No as their first single signed to Epic Records and again, it was doing numbers.
The single cover was front page of every teen magazine, top shelf of every record shop everywhere. They heard their song on the radio, in the mall, on TV.
No, No, No was top 10 in five countries and hit #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Their second single Killing Time was featured in the movie Men in Black and soundtrack, which was originally released as a promotional single.
Their other two singles With Me and Illusions gained moderate success in the U.S. since they were labeled radio-only tracks and weren't eligible for the Billboard Hot 100. In the Netherlands and the UK, the singles were topping every chart, holding that number 1 or 2 spot for months on end.
The girls were a success very early on in their professional careers. They had fan clubs in magazines, and ads on TV. The label and Joe Jackson were not playing with the girls. The moment they stepped foot in California, they were in somebody's studio and then right after in somebody's photo shoot.
They were traveling and doing cameos and attending parties to network, building their fanbase from scratch.
Beyoncé couldn't escape herself. Every time she went outside, she saw a poster or a billboard, or someone wearing a shirt with the group on it. It was all overwhelming but a dream come true. There were no what ifs or buts about music for Beyoncé. It was always that. She knew from a very young age she was destined for greatness. For stardom. And here she was in sunny California living in a penthouse apartment with a beachside view, wearing the most expensive fabrics and riding around Beverly Hills in her Jaguar convertible.
