CHAPTER SIX
SPECIAL ABILITY

In the year: 1939

"SOME vampires have a special ability that manifests from their greatest trait as a human," Carlisle explains to Thea, who he now had standing in their backyard across from Rosalie Hale. "For example, Edward is a telepath."

"Which means?" Thea waits for his explanation.

"He can read the thoughts of others."

Thea nods, "I'm still a little confused. What am I doing?" She signals to her environment.

"We think you might have an ability as well, but I'm not too sure." Carlisle crosses his arms.

"But I never had any great traits as a human," Thea claims.

Edward shakes his head, "that's not exactly true. You think that you can be anyone you want to be because of your mother, you're used to being someone you're not."

Thea shifts uneasily on her feet.

Emmett slaps the back of Edward's head, "that's an invasion of privacy, dude."

"So what are you saying?"

"We think that you might be... shifting into other people." Carlisle answers. "So to test this theory, you're gonna fight Rose."

Thea looks over at the blonde, who sends her a wink.

"Why do I have to fight her."

"Your power may have manifested when you...killed...your mother," Carlisle spoke with uncertainty. "It was a tense situation. We think we can trigger it again by putting you into another tense situation."

"By fighting Rosalie?" Thea raised her brows.

"Yes."

"I don't know how to...fight," Thea informs him.

"That's okay." Carlisle smiles slightly, "Rosalie will come at you and you just simply try defending yourself."

Thea was uncomfortable and scared, "okay."

Rosalie digs her flats into the dirt. "Tell me when." She looks at Thea.

Thea was contemplating running in the opposite direction. "...Now."

Rosalie takes off towards Thea, Thea underestimated her vampire speed because she was quick to knock her off her feet and land on the ground with a gasp.
