May 11-11:35pm

Toni awoke from her wife tapping her gently on the shoulder. She turned over, still half-asleep, and mumbled, "Yes Cheryl, you okay?"

Tenderness filled Cheryl's voice as she replied, "No, no. I'm having small contractions."

Toni's eyes widened with a mixture of excitement and concern. She quickly got up and pulled the blanket from over them, feeling a rush of adrenaline. "No water, you sure it's not Braxton Hicks, like I had when carrying Dale?" Toni asked, trying to remain calm while her mind raced with anticipation.

"I don't know," Cheryl replied, her voice filled with uncertainty. "I've never carried a child before."

Toni's worry deepened. She wanted to understand what Cheryl was going through, so she asked, "Does it hurt? Does it feel like waves?"

Cheryl shook her head. "No, but it's slowly increasing and getting worse, so I think we should leave now!"

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Toni agreed, "Okay, okay. Let me get the kids. You stay here for just five minutes."

"Hurry!" Cheryl urged, feeling the pain intensifying with each passing moment.

Entering Dale's room, Toni gently shook him awake. "Dale," she said with a mix of excitement and urgency.

Rubbing his eyes, Dale sleepily responded, "Yes, Mom?"

"Mommy thinks she's in labor," Toni explained. "Go quickly and grab the twins and the baby bag. Take the keys from the counter and wait in the car while I make my way downstairs."

Dale wasted no time. He hopped out of bed and did exactly as she said. Toni rushed back into their room, feeling a wave of excitement mixed with nervousness. She helped Cheryl sit up and gently guided her towards the edge of the bed. Cheryl's face contorted with pain, but she wasn't in that much pain. They made their way slowly down the stairs, Cheryl griping onto Toni for support.

Meanwhile, Dale had managed to gather the twins, grab the baby bag, and retrieve the car keys. He anxiously waited by the front door, glancing back at his parents, hoping everything would be okay.

Toni carefully navigated the stairs, ensuring Cheryl's safety with each step. Once they reached the bottom, Toni guided Cheryl towards the car, and Dale swiftly opened the door. They helped Cheryl settle into the back seat, making her as comfortable as possible. Dale quickly handed Toni the car keys and the twins joined Cheryl in the back.

"Are you okay, mommy?" Daen asked with genuine concern.

Cheryl smiled warmly at her son, trying to hide the pain she felt. "Yes, bubba, I'm fine," she reassured him, her voice laced with a slight tremor. "Just feeling a little bit of contractions."

Daen furrowed his brows, taking in the slight wince on his mother's face. The innocence in his eyes echoed his worry. "What can I do, mommy?"

Cheryl reached out and lovingly ran her fingers through his hair, finding comfort touching his hair. "Sweetheart. Your presence heals more than you can ever imagine."

Daen nodded earnestly, curling up beside her in the car, keeping a watchful eye on his mom. He let out a deep sigh, "I will never leave your side, mommy"

Cheryl smiled softly. As they drove towards the hospital, Toni reached back and grabbed Cheryl's hand while driving, Toni held Cheryl's hand tightly, offering words of reassurance.

Cheryl's contractions grew a little stronger, Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they arrived at the hospital. Toni parked the car and rushed inside.
