No one had bothered to return to the mansion. Instead, people had been called to clean up the wreckage of the Bin, and Launchpad had driven everyone to the docks where the submarine was already waiting.
As the sub bobbed further into the ocean, Scrooge made a quick call to Donald to tell him that the boys were quite alright and the day ahead would be rather calm. Now, you weren't a fan of lying, but the details of Ducktales were slowly coming back and you knew that this was for the best. As everyone settled into the sub and Launchpad began the descent, Scrooge walked over to you. He placed a hand on your shoulder and you turned to look at him.
"Atlantis?" You asked. He nodded.
"Heard Launchpad mention the Drake Barrier Reef, figured now was as good a time as any! After all, that storm won't wait for us."
"Webby was talking about it. Wish Glom-"
You regret your decision immediately. As soon as you tried to mention that Glomgold would be after Atlantis, you felt a familiar sensation. Your throat tightened as your tongue became slick with something less viscous than saliva and a horrid burnt taste coated your tastebuds. You wiped off your mouth, shaking your head as Scrooge's eyes narrowed.
"Las? That..." He frowned. "That hasn't happened in years. What's going on?"
"Nothing," You lied. You tried to remind yourself that everything would be fine. That even with your presence the story would continue as it should, even if it hadn't in the past. As long as everyone was safe, you were alright. "Probably just nervous."
"We both know that doesn't happen from a wee bit of anxiety." Scrooge pressed. "Will... will everything be ok?"
That was how you'd gotten around it before. A simple yes or no by shaking your head, something that the Curse couldn't control. Scrooge had figured out ages ago that it was in some way associated with what you knew, or what was going to come. So, as you had in the past, you gave him a nod.
"Then what's there to worry about?" He pulled you into a side hug. "We're back at it, (Y/n). Avid adventurers! Eccentric explorers!"
"I love your alliterations," You joked. Scrooge looked away quickly, clearing his throat before walking towards the front of the sub.
"Right, then, anyways! Launchpad!"
It was a sixteen hour trip to the Drake Barrier Reef. Sixteen hours of sea shanties, children running around, and nothing to do but stare at the fish. It didn't take long for you to fall asleep on the front bench as Scrooge and Dewey argued about the logistics of how to get there.
When you woke up, you jumped in your seat. While you had slept, the children had surrounded you in a dog pile, with Webby laying on your lap and the boys piled around you. They, at the same time as you, jerked awake to Scrooge's speech.
"Wha- huh?"
"Are we there yet?"
"Right side or left side?"
Scrooge sucked in an offended breath, "I was just about to-" the kids walked off- "If you'd just let me-"
"Look!"
"There that thing is!"
"We found it!"
You stretched before joining the kids at the window, gazing out into the blue abyss as a shadow came into view. At the ocean's floor, an entire city was overturned, as if it had been pried from the ground like a tree stump and flipped on it's head. The light from the sub illuminated the upside-down buildings as Scrooge walked up behind you.
