I can lie all I want.
Say you're not my type,
make up excuses.

Say you're nothing more than:
"a friend"

But let's be real for a moment,
I wouldn't be as happy with you as I am,
If you were just a measly:
friend.

No I wouldn't crave to see you as badly as I do,

I wouldn't wonder where you are,
or search for you in a crowd
if we were nothing more than acquaintances.

I wouldn't think about you as often as I do,
Or worry about you when you're gone.

But most of all I wouldn't be writing this.

I wouldn't be writing the unspoken words in my head
if you were just a friend.
Because if you were just "a friend"
There wouldn't be any unspoken words  to be said.
