KANO STATE, NIGERIA.

"C'mon Amina, please just give me him a call." Jawahir begged for the umpteenth time. Even though Amina had picked Azran's phone number when Azra left, she didn't call him when she came back home. She also didn't tell Jawahir, she just kept quiet and kept to herself like she has been doing for the past months ever since the Azran incident happened. Jawahir being a sharp observer had noticed that something is amiss so she had pestered the said girl to tell her what the matter is.

"Look jawjaw, I don't want to put myself in anymore trouble. Baba said he will disown me if I ever contact Azran." Amina said with a tone of finality, she might look as though she is fine but more that anyone, Jawahir knew she is in a deep turmoil. Over the months she had gotten to be with Azran, they had bonded alot and the separation is making her more and more depressed everyday.
"C'mon Mina, Baba is just bluffing, he won't disown you." Jawahir whined, Amina glared at Jawahir but said nothing, they all knew their father is a man of his words and upholds his principles, he wouldn't hesitate to disown her if he finds out she called Azran.
"Okay Baba isn't bluffing." Jawahir said and rolled her eyes when she noticed the way Amina is glaring daggers at her.
"But still Mina, nobody has to know you called him. Your secret is safe with me, I promise." Amina said nothing and she only moved forward and closed the gap between she and her sister and hugged her tightly. Jawahir is truly an angel sent from above, she wouldn't have known what to do if she didn't have her by her side through all this emotional drama.
"Is that a yes?!" Jawahir squealed as she hugged her more tightly but to her outmost disappointment, she felt Amina shaking her head indicating no.
"But Mina why?" Jawahir asked as she pouted.  Amina inhaled shakily as she blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall, she had promised herself she wouldn't cry again. Crying wouldn't solve any of her problems and it only made her step siblings happy when they see her crying and feeling miserable.

"It's not worth it, jawjaw. Baba will disown me, we will never be happy. Maybe this my destiny and I should accept it."
"Destiny my foot! You will call Azran right now, if anyone asks tell them I'm the one who called Azran."
"I don't want to drag you into my mess." Jawahir smacked Amina's head and she playfully glared at her, then she held her hand and softly gazed into her hazel eyes.
"It's us against the world, Mina. Did you forget our promise so soon? I wouldn't be fulfilling my promise if I don't drag myself into your mess." Jawahir said softly, when they were both barely ten years old, they had promised each other that they would stick to each other through thick and thin and one person's problem is both their problem. For almost Twenty20 years after they had made that promise, none of them had broken it and now that Amina is trying to break it, Jawahir wasn't ready to accept and let it go so easily.

"Jawjaw please." Amina begged but Jawahir only rolled her eyes and pretended as if she didn't hear her.
"Kinsan Baba Jira yakeyi kiyi laifi; you know Baba is waiting for you to do something wrong." Again Jawahir played a deaf ear to what Amina is saying. Jawahir is the black sheep in the family and they all knew that, she is a notorious person and when she was in secondary school, she had gotten suspended 5 times and expelled when she was in ss2. Also, she is the only person who can stand up to their father and boldly tell him that what he is doing is wrong and hence the animosity between the father and daughter.
"Tell that to someone who cares." Jawahir answered sarcastically as she rolled her eyes and lay down on the bed.

Before Amina could reply and talk some sense into her sister, the door banged opened revealing her furious brother, Abdul-Rahman. The glare he sent towards Amina made her shiver and she subconsciously stepped back, the last time she had seen him was about 6 months ago when he had told their parents' about her forbidden relationship with the crown prince, Azran.
"Amma dai hala kin karisa haukace wa ne ko; maybe you have known completely gone mad, right?!" Abdul thundered, she knew it was a question but she knew better than to answer. Ever since the Azran incident everyone in the house kept calling her mad because they saw no reason why she would love a Shugaba knowing fully well the animosity between the two families but what they failed to understand is that non of them were aware of their surnames when they started dating.
"Ya Abdul what did she do now?" Jawahir asked as she stood up from the bed and stood in front of Amina.
"You better shut up your mouth Jawahir or else I won't hesitate to slap some sense into you."
"I'd like to see you try." Jawahir said and she snorted.
