KANO STATE, NIGERIA.
"Who is she?" Ayman asked, confusion etched on his handsome face that is filled with wisdom.
"Guess." Maha said, Ayman's eyes darted towards Azran and the rest who looked as if they had been caught stealing meat from the pot by their mother but Azran was the most nervous.
"Azra's new friend who Azran is crushing on?" Ayman asked.
"No!" Both Azra and Azran shouted at the same time making Ayman chuckled.
"We need to talk, come with me for a while." Maha said as she softly held Ayman's arms and led him outside the living room and the mighty king who is feared and respected by all followed his beloved like a docile pet.Mana smiled at Ayman but it was more of a nervous smile and at once, Ayman realized that something is amiss.
"Who is she?" Ayman repeated his from earlier knowing that whatever the problem may be, it had to have something with the fair fulani young lady, because he has never seen her and the kind of nervous smiles they were all giving him were giving him bad vibes."Azran's wife." Ayman raised an eyebrow at Maha before he playfully scoffed and began to laughed but when Maha didn't join him in laughing, an unsettling feeling began to form in his stomach and he slowly stopped laughing. He then pointed from Azran to the said girl and then he did it again and again with wide mouth until Maha got tired and held his arm.
"I'm really sorry I didn't tell you sooner." Maha said and then she went ahead to narrate all that had happened. Ayman was beyond speechless by the time she finished her story, he left her and went to the living room and stood in front of Azran and then unexpectedly a heavy slap landed on his face.
"What the fuck?" Maha yelled as she immediately scurried towards them.
"Did you have to slap him?" Maha said as she looked at Azran who held his cheeks but said nothing. Ayman scratched his head and smiled awkwardly at Maha.
"I didn't know what came over me, I was just upset I didn't get to see him get married."
"So you decided to slap my son?!" Maha said and then she rolled her eyes. Ayman looked at Azran and he removed the hand he had placed on his cheek and patted it.He then turned to Amina who was watching everything nervously and then said, "well no offence taken... err?"
"Amina." Mahi chirped in happily.
"Okay Amina, welcome to our humble abode." Ayman said with a soft smile.
"Thank you your majesty."
"You can call me father or baba or dad. Anyone you see fit." Ayman said and Amina nodded her head with a shy smile."And you! I hope you know you had stolen your bride. I will have to talk to her father and see what I can do."
"My father will never accept this marriage." Amina blurted out even before she herself could process what she was about to say.
"C'mon Amina let's be positive, I have never done anything to your father so I'm sure he won't have a problem. And I will apologize for what I did today so we could get married." Azran said as he held her hands with a reassuring smile on his face.
"We all did nothing but our ancestors made sure will can never be together."
"W-what are you saying?" Azran said with his brows furrowed in confusion, at this point she had gotten everyone confused with her mysterious words but she didn't care to explain and she turned to face Ayman and drop the bombshell.
"Would you let your son or daughter marry a Talba?" She watched the way his jaw clenched immediately she said the name 'Talba' it was as though he wanted to go berserk, she had struck a nerve by calling that name and she knew it and now regretted it because of the way he is glaring at her as though he wanted to kill her. But more than anything, at that moment she realized they could never be together. Their destinies weren't meant to be entwined together even though they wanted it to be."Are you a Talba?" Ayman asked after he had managed to calm himself down, Amina didn't even bate an eyelid as she nodded her head indicating yes. Right then and there, Ayman had two theories concerning the Talbas'; it is either they were using Amina as a pawn to get to the throne by making the crown prince fall in love with her or this is a true love that may or may not survive. But even if they are suing Amina why didn't they do it all those years and they are doing it now?
"This marriage isn't going to work Azran." Ayman said as he faced Azran with a menacing and cold look, Azra's heart dropped to his stomach because he had expected his family to have his back and help him fight for the love of his life but what his father had said had erased all those hopes, but then Ayman said something again that made his world come crumbling down right in front of him.
"Divorce her." Azran felt a pang in his chest and out of reflex he immediately held Amina's hand and shook his head indicating no.
