LAGOS, NIGERIA
Three years later.....
Amina sighed for the umpteenth time as she not so discreetly glared at her old patient.
"Sir we can't treat you if you don't open your mouth and tell us what is wrong with your body." her acquaintance, doctor Muhiba said, also trying all her possible best to stay patient. It was not something new that patients gave them headaches especially the oldies but this particular one, Alhaji Bala was a whole different case. To say he was stressing her life would be a huge understatement, he is 65 years old and is diagnosed with a brain tumour. In this case especially for old people, they tend to get irritated and frustrated when doctors keep asking them about what is happening to their body but she was convinced that this man is doing it on purpose to frustrate her life and no one could convince her otherwise.
"Well it is your job as doctors to figure out what is wrong with me apart from the brain tumour and treat me. Or how do you think the veterinary doctors do it?" Alhaji Bala huffed and turned his back to them as he laid on the bed and closed his eyes.It took all the will power in Amina to not knock his bald head with her clench fist, instead she hissed softly and motioned for Muhiba to follow her out of the room.
"I'm never going back to that room again, they should find another doctor to treat that man. How can we treat him if he isn't willing to cooperate?" Amina whispered to Muhiba who shrugged her shoulders with a small smile that masked her beautiful dark skinned face.
"Who do you think can handle him when even you, the most patient among all the doctors in this hospital, aren't able to?" Muhiba said with a smile. She was the kind of person that always had smiles on their faces and for the past three years that Amina had known her, she always wore a smile. It was as if she didn't bear the burden of the world. Unlike Amina who was broken inside out, she found it hard to even crack a fake smile after what had happened three years ago.Her father ruined her life and there was nothing anyone could say to make her forgive him, he is her biggest enemy. Amina unnecessarily cleared her throat to stop herself from thinking about the past, it wasn't something she liked reminiscing because it made her sad. Turning to the left turned out to be the worst mistake because she clashed eyes with Dr. Abdulqadir. He flashed her a toothy grin and winked at her but she hissed and rolled her eyes and turned her face away.
"Aah now Amina, when are you going to give the guy a chance? It's clear he loves you a lot, he has been pursuing you for the past three years ever since he laid eyes on you." Muhiba who had seen the exchange said and Amina looked at her with a duh expression before she said,
"Not now, not ever." and Muhiba sighed."Hey Amina, Muhiba." Abdulqadir said as he stood beside Amina, making the three of them form a little circle, Muhiba answered his greeting with a wave of her hand and a bright smile on her face and Amina pretended as if she didn't hear him. Muhiba nudged her friend to say something to him but Amina only rolled her eyes. Muhiba still found it hard to believe that her friend was able to resist a rich and fairly handsome man like Dr. Abdulqadir Bola Qassim. He was every girl's dream in the hospital, he was dark in complexion but that didn't mean he wasn't handsome, he was and girls swoon over him. His father, chief Bola Qassim a Yoruba Muslim man is the owner of the hospital- BQ hospital that Amina is currently working in and Abdulqadir is the COO of the hospital and all girls wished he would even look their way but here he was head over heels in love with plain Jane Amina Talba and all she did was ignore his existence in the hospital while he followed her like a lost puppy.
It wasn't that Amina didn't find Abdulqadir attractive but maybe if the situation had been better and if her heart hadn't been conquered by a half arab half Nigerian demi god then maybe- keyword maybe she would have given Abdulqadir a listening ear. If her eyes hadn't been blinded by a set of heterochromia eyes, by a set of forest green and midnight black eyes, if her hands didn't still wish to run her hand freely through his dark soft curl, if her eyes weren't tired of seeing his long thick eyebrows and eyelashes. In her eyes he was an angel, he was perfection in her eyes and no one could ever replace him even after everything. Her beloved, her safe haven in a chaotic world.
