my headcannn is that in every universe on of the three monkeys permanently dies and none of them will be happy together
If Sun Wukong died. Macaque would feel lost, confused. The ol greatest of them all- dead?
He'd feel like a child after their parents died and the only thing they give him would be more children to take care of AKA MK and the others.
He'd try his best, but he gets drained easily, if by miracle the gibbon is alive, she'd try her best to help only for Macaque.
The cold and heartless gibbon would try to change after Wukongs passing.
Even though she should be content that her mission has succeeded. An old version of her locked inside her brain would be feel empty.
She could not turn the clocks enough to save him.
If Macaque would have perished. Y/N would carry on her duty to kill Wukong once and for all, she's a bit lost though.
In the outside she's cold. She looks like she doesn't mind at all, just another loss, loss is normal in life but- an immortal monkey - you'd never think you'd lose one.
Wukong would share a the grief, he would see right through her. How she felt lost, her path no longer clear yet she still doesn't hesitate to swing at him.
Through hard work comes great rewards, some small but worth more.
Through force at first- Wukong would find a way to ease himself into her life. While she wondered- how did she lose Macaque? Why did that happen?
They move on, but a mention of his name would cause an ache.
Wukong is very familiar with death. He's an immortal after all.
But, again, you don't think you'll ever lose someone who was also once immortal.
First rage then sadness, he never thought he'd ever heal his heart.
The gibbons words she once told him when he lost his friends from the journey sticked to his mind though, she helped him, saved him without her knowing.
And it would only be right to return the favor.
If the gibbon passed, macaque would be more ruthless, more vengeful.
A friendly rivalry would turn to a hatred quarrel.
Reminding them of her death would be a pain, a strong one to them both.
Wukong tries his best to bound with macaque through their mutual grieving
Of course; they never fully move on.
If you'd lose two, like Wukong losing macaque and y/n.
Or maybe macaque losing Wukong and y/n
Or, y/n losing Macaque and Wukong
