Looking across at her date, Taylor couldn't actually believe how well this evening was going.
Jason had been the perfect gentleman, pulling out her seat, letting her choose first, asking about her, her life and her family.
Even when she'd become emotional whilst talking about her grandfather's death he didn't attempt to lean in, to reach forward or to break the rules she had bestowed upon him
"So, tell me about the Kelce family, it's not the most Canadian name I have ever heard
"Irish, I've heard but I have no idea, My um... My dad died when I was 4, he had no family and my mums were in England so it was just left me, her and my brother to deal with it"
Reaching over, Taylor couldn't help but break her own rule by stroking his forearm in sympathy
"Tell me about your mom"
"There's nothing to tell really, she's pretty great. Works hard, tries her best for us, everything you can ask for in a mom"
"And your brother... The manwhore, tell me about him, do you get on?"
"No, we never have, mum calls him the biggest mistake of her life"
Taylors face crumpled in shock at the thought of any mother ever saying that about their own child
"No, don't feel sorry for him, I see it in your face, he doesn't deserve it, he's an ass. He got a full scholarship to study music, his lifelong dream, 6 months later he's kicked out and we find him sitting in a jail cell"
"What did he do?"
"I'm not sure, mom won't say which means it must be pretty bad because she usually tells me everything"
"Aaaw, are you a mommy's boy?"
Jason couldn't help but blush
"I suppose you could say that"
"Don't be shy about it, it's sweet, in fact you have been really sweet all night, I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised. So were you and your brother ever close?"
"Never, I have plans, dreams, I want to succeed, to be someone but he just seems to want to self destruct and take us all down with him"
"Well your mom let him come back so she must want him around, no matter what he's done"
"Are you kidding? My mom hates him, she only agreed to him coming back to keep him out of jail"
"But that's her son"
"He doesn't deserve to be called that Taylor, he really doesn't, my mom is a good woman and he... Well any ways, this is our first date, let's just forget about my misfit brother and focus on us"
"Um, Jason, remember... There is no us, there's only tonight. After this I told you, no more Flirting Fridays, no more stalking, no more drooling"
"Yeah, yeah, I know what you said but did you actually realise it would be like this??? We're talking and laughing and... I have never shared myself like this with anyone before, not the way I have with you tonight"
Taylor laughed a little and shook her head before taking a sip of her soda
"Do you think I don't know how you work. I bet you use that line on every girl you bring here"
"For 3 months I haven't even thought about bringing another girl out, just you. My focus has been only on you. Taylor, I want you to see past the jock image, the reputation and just see me. Jason Kelce. Now we are here and we are alone and it feels like this I can't even imagine seeing you at school on Monday and pretending tonight didn't happen"
"You're smooth Kelce, I give you that. I told you though there were rules to me agreeing to come here tonight" Taylor fiddled with her straw as Jason shifted uncomfortably on his chair
"And I agreed to them because you didn't tell me that you would look like this, like every image I ever had of you pales in comparison to the girl sitting on front of me tonight. You didn't tell me we would talk so easily or laugh so frequently" Taylor saw his hand twitch as though he wanted to reach out and touch her but he kept control of himself, he followed the rules she set.
"Taylor, I liked you when you were just Taylor from school but now that I know you like this I just... You gave me rules and I get it, but I want you to come back to mine, we can watch a movie, chill out and carry on getting to know each other. I promise I will stick to your rules until you tell me they don't apply anymore"
-------------------------------------------------------
Lying on his bed later that night, Jason couldn't help the irritation that was currently consuming him and refusing to let him sleep.
Dinner with Taylor had been amazing, far beyond his wildest dreams and when she had agreed to head back to his house to watch a movie he thought that all of his Christmases had come at once.
He'd done everything she'd asked, abided by every rule she had set out and when they walked in to his house he assumed that the rules were about to be forgotten.
He'd got them drinks whilst Taylor took his laptop on her knee and chose them a movie and he'd been more that a little surprised to find she had chosen Jaws instead of the insipid rom-coms his dates usually chose.
Finally they had settled next to each other on the sofa as the opening credits began to roll.
After about 10 minutes of the movie Jason felt brave enough to lift his arm, hoping to delicately wrap it around her shoulder but just as he was about to make his move his asshole brother began playing some piece of shit on his keyboard and Taylor had immediately become enthralled
"What is that?" She'd asked, eyes wide and palm pressed to her chest
"My bone head brother ruining things as usual. Want me to tell him to cut it out?"
"No don't you dare, it's beautiful. Jason he's so talented, I could listen to this for the rest of my life and never get sick of it"
And that had been that, for the next 15 minutes Jason had pretended to watch the movie as Taylor went on and on about his 'amazing' brother and his talented fingers.
Shortly after, she had received a text from home and had abbruptly left. Evening over, no hand holding, no hugging, no kissing and definitely no need for the condom he had gotten from his brother.
Pulling a pillow over his head Jason allowed his mind to be filled with all the ways in which he would like to hurt Travis, all the ways he could wreak havoc on his miserable excuse for a life.
Turning up and making his and their moms life a misery was one thing but cockblocking him with Taylor Swift was taking it to a new level
