Love Like a Dog

Maybe I do love like a dog,
I constantly need to be taken on a walk,
And you have to lower and sweeten your voice as you talk.

I will fall for every word you say,
If only you say it in a nice way.
You could try to hurt me with your actions,
And I will most likely not give any reactions.

I will continue to love you unconditionally,
And cherish the loving heat.
If you try to leave me I will endlessly wait,
By the door if you perhaps changed your mind.

Even if you come back too late
And decide to once again leave me behind,
I will wait for you,
Because my love for you will never be due.

You liked dogs, right?
I acted like one, and you didn't like me quite.

I never tried to fight,
Or even bite.
And you still left me to rot,
Despite the love you got.

You could have said you didn't want it,
But instead, you started a conflict.

I used to be a good dog,
I didn't know how to bite before.
You taught me to be aggressive,
You used the way I was submissive.
