As you finished packing your final suitcase, you felt a twinge of guilt, knowing that you wouldn't be there for your girlfriend's birthday. You had planned to make it back in time, but your business trip unexpectedly got extended. You sighed and grabbed your phone to call Jihyo once more before your flight.
"Hey, babe. I'm really sorry I won't be able to make it for your birthday. I promise I'll make it up to you when I get back, okay?" you said sadly, your voice filled with longing.
"It's okay, baby. I understand. I just wish you could be here with me, but it's okay. I know you have work. Just make sure to come back home safely, okay?" Jihyo said with a soft tone, her voice always soothing you.
"I will, I promise. I love you," you said, your heartache evident in your voice.
"I love you too. Have a safe flight, and we'll celebrate when you're back," Jihyo said, her words making you smile despite the situation.
As the days went by, you kept in touch with Jihyo through calls and messages, trying to make up for your absence. However, a week into your trip, you received a surprise call from your boss, informing you that your trip was ending sooner than expected. A wave of excitement and relief washed over you as you quickly packed your belongings and caught the first flight back to Seoul.
With the help of Jihyo's family and her TWICE members, you had arranged a surprise dinner at the restaurant she had always wanted to go to. You had even reserved the entire venue for the night, wanting to make her birthday extra special. You also took care of all the decorations, making sure that everything was perfect for your girlfriend.
You smiled to yourself as you thought about how surprised Jihyo would be when she saw you at the restaurant. You even secretly bought her the expensive gift she has always wanted a couple of months ago.
Three days before her birthday, you arrived in Seoul and immediately headed to the restaurant to make all the final preparations.
You couldn't wait to see Jihyo's reaction when she walked in. You also made sure to keep your plans a secret from her, not wanting to ruin the surprise. You refrained from video calling her, making her wonder what was going on and feel a bit anxious.
On the afternoon of Jihyo's birthday, her family came to her house dressed in fancy clothes. Jihyo couldn't help but wonder why they were all dressed up when they were just planning to eat out.
"Why are you all dressed so nicely?" Jihyo asked with a hint of curiosity and suspicion in her voice.
"It's your birthday, sweetie," her mom replied with a smile.
"Yeah, but we always just eat out on my birthday," Jihyo replied with a shrug.
"Just trust us and wear the dress we brought for you," her youngest sister said, giving her a knowing smile.
Jihyo decided not to question it any further and just went along with her family's request. After a while, they blindfolded her, making her wonder what was going on.
"What are you guys up to?" Jihyo asked with a laugh as she tried to take off her blindfold.
"Just trust us," her younger sister said, chuckling at her attempt to remove the blindfold.
With her family guiding her, Jihyo was led to a car, and they drove off. She couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, as she didn't know where they were taking her. But after a few minutes, the car stopped, and her family helped her out.
As soon as they stepped inside, Jihyo was hit with the smell of delicious food and the sound of cheerful chatter. She could hear familiar voices, and she immediately knew that her friends were there as well.
