truth or dare

You weren't expecting the night to go this way when TWICE invited you to their apartment for drinks and games. As Chaeyoung's good friend, you had joined them for social gatherings before, but something felt different this time.

The members greeted you warmly, as always, when you arrived. You chatted with Chaeyoung and Momo in the kitchen while they finished making snacks. When everything was ready, you all gathered in the living room.

"So what should we play?" Nayeon asked the group.

"We could do karaoke," Sana suggested.

Jeongyeon shook her head. "We did that last time. I want something more fun and interactive."

"How about Truth or Dare?" Jihyo said with a mischievous glint in her eye.

You felt your nerves start to rise at the thought of what dares and secrets might be revealed in that game.

The others seemed intrigued by the idea, though.

"It could liven things up around here," Tzuyu agreed.

So everyone got comfortable on the floor and couch, with snacks and drinks within reach. An open bottle of soju sat in the middle as the starting point for spins and dares.

"I'll go first since it was my idea," Jihyo said. She gave the bottle a twirl, and it landed on Mina. "Truth or dare?"

"Truth," Mina replied softly.

Jihyo thought for a moment. "What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?"

Mina blushed faintly. "I accidentally video called my family while getting changed once."

The group laughed at her expense, and you were starting to relax into the fun atmosphere. But there was an undercurrent of competitiveness you sensed in some of the members that made you wary.

Mina spun next, and the bottle pointed to you.

Your heart leapt into your chest.

"Truth or dare?" she asked.

You hesitated. Perhaps truth was the safer option to start with. "Truth."

Mina smiled warmly. "What's your biggest pet peeve?"

You breathed an internal sigh of relief at the mild question. You told the group about how much you disliked people who were late all the time without good reason.

The game continued around the circle, revealing small secrets and resulting in easy dares like eating a spoonful of wasabi or attempting an idol dance move. You joined in the laughter, feeling more at ease as more drinks were consumed.

Then it was your turn to spin. The bottle landed on Jeongyeon.

"Truth or dare?" you asked.

Jeongyeon smirked. "Dare."

You wracked your brain for a playful challenge. "I dare you to try and spin a basketball on one finger for a full minute."

She attempted it gamely but failed within seconds, eliciting cheers and boos from the group. Jeongyeon laughed it off good-naturedly as she took her turn.

Things started to heat up after that. Dahyun confessed to accidentally walking in on Chaeyoung changing once, much to the latter's embarrassment. Momo was dared to lip sync an entire Beyonce song without smiling.

The spins and subsequent reveals grew bolder as inhibitions lowered. You noticed Jihyo watching you intently at times, her eyes unreadable. Part of you wondered if she had an ulterior motive for suggesting this game.
