I can't imagine what you've become now

Coz I've known, I always knew

Tell me, how dignified do you look now?

Wearing a good inch of heels

Walking proud in corridors

Feeling all beautiful

Knowing what to say in front of a real human

Wait- this is crazy

Coz I've known, I always knew that

You settle for a pair of Keds

Dark skinny jeans, graphic shirt

Your hair tied in a bun

And you always know how to talk to a real human

Who knows exactly how you feel

And who has words that made you feel at home

So let me rephrase that :

Are those humans I've got now, still beside you?

Or they left you now,

So you found a good reason

To dust off that badass mask we got

To put up a fight against the antagonists

And to hide everything we need to hide

Well if you did

I just wanted to say that I just won a battle

And the enemy's tough

A face I've never imagined I'd see upfront

When we were five years old...

And the only thing scary that time
Was the dark and the dentist

Funny, isn't it? Come to think of it

Things in our head are far more dangerous

And I didn't know that until now

At first I didn't know what made this my fight

I've never failed to feed the sheep

But it was the wolf that's so hard to tame

I got bitten by its sharp fangs

And sometimes

It would tear free of its leash

But don't worry -

Sometimes the demon can be kind too

They would go away when you've learned

how to swallow the poison whole

So don't ever think of giving up

Coz I faced these wars to build you up

And for some reason

The enemy will keep coming back

It will destroy your thoughts

Leave you devastated

So don't let it catch you

Dear future me,

The war doesn't end here

The worst is yet to come

Remember that I've come this far for you

So hold on tight with all these words
