Chapter 15

"You certainly took your time getting here," the dark blue haired woman said when Zhīzhū jīng arrived back to Silken Web Cave.

"Just give me a break," Zhīzhū jīng snapped, crumpling the sides of her lower dress – her sharp nails digging through the fabric, "you know I don't exactly have any strength on my legs to walk. Báigǔ Fūrén."

Báigǔ Fūrén's eyelids lowered as she regretted her word of choice.

The spider demon gave a sigh and waved it off. It wasn't a time for such apologies anyway. They had bigger things to focus on.

"Is it ready?" She asked rather too impatiently, catching the noble woman's attention.

Báigǔ Fūrén gracefully lifted her head to meet her sister's and gave a quick nod, "it is."

Zhīzhū jīng relaxed as she heard that in her sit.

She'll be able to make use of her legs again. To be able to walk again. To run. To jump. To do any kind of activities that she wasn't able to do when her legs stopped functioning. She won't ever be needing help from getting up or the use of the device which gave her the ability to move from or to a place in a short period of time. Such freedom summons her mind to feel excitement for the near future to come.

And yet, the idea of her legs to function again felt a little bit impossible. Before she could get to go through that small reasoning, her concentration was needed someplace else. The now.

"All the pieces are in their place."

Zhīzhū jīng listened, but spoke no words – letting the woman proceed with her speech. Sometimes her sister often speaks in riddles.

"The fire has been contained. The plan is at work. With the Samadhi Fire now at our grasp, we can completely take back what was once ours... You, my dear sister, will have those kingdoms back which was once taken away from you. Lastly, you will be able to gain back the ability to make use of your legs."

"How does the Samadhi Fire sit into our plan?"

"The Samadhi Fire is an inextinguishable flame, is it not?"

Zhīzhū jīng slowly nodded her head, remembering the conversation when Áo Li's granddaughter burn alit, on the other hand, her mind was still processing what the woman was getting at.

Then it all made sense. She stared at her sister as the woman says what she had predictably assumed.

"The Samadhi Fire will be used to destroy this world."

"That was not part of the PLAN," Zhīzhū jīng raised her voice, "the plan was to reclaim Megapolis and Flower Fruit Mountain. Not DESTROY the world! How could I rule a kingdom if it is destroyed? What purpose would you gain from that? I thought we were to use it to threatened them to hand the kingdoms over..."

Báigǔ Fūrén scoffed at her sister's presumption, "my dear sister, the Samadhi Fire is made for greater things. Perhaps I should have been more specific with you... It is indeed not included on the plan. However, after some thinking... I decided we should start with a clean slate."

"A clean slate..? W-what are you-"

"We will rebuild the kingdoms again, and mould it to our will. Famine, disease, war, and endless turmoil. An eternity of needless pain will finally be out of the picture! No more destruction. No more disorder. We shall finally gain perfection!"

She lifted up her arms as the background behind her shows the finished thing they were building. "This machinery is a weapon to channel the Samadhi Fire, and now that we have the Samadhi Fire in our grasp. It is time that we move to the next stage"

Zhīzhū jīng slighty grinned but it faded when she saw something.. Someone familiar.

Mei.

She then realized what was about to happen.

Báigǔ Fūrén appeared next to the dragon girl who was startled by the woman's sudden appearance.

"Báigǔ Fūrén.." Mei gritted before summoning the Samadhi Fire to fight her. However, she was abruptly stopped by the woman's powers.

"So this is the power of the Samadhi Fire." Mei, even when she is trapped in the icy crystal again, her will to fight has never diminish, just like the Samadhi Fire.

"WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING ON DOING TO ME?!" The young girl shouted in anger but also in slight fear. Okay she was really scared what the woman was about to do to her. How would she be used as a weapon? The Samadhi Fire was what they were after right..? Does that mean they're actually going to tear her apart to get it? The thought silently sent shivers down her spine.

Lady Bone looks at her in pity, "Áo Xiǎojiāo, daughter of Áo Xiānshēng and Áo Tàitài. Princess of Megapolis. Betrayed by the ones whom you have loved and look up to. Such resistance is futile, child."

"I WILL NEVER LET YOU- ARGH!" The more she fights back, the more the icy crystal consumes her limbs one by one.

"Is that so.. Well then, have you ever wondered why you have not yet inherited your family's precious heirloom? Maybe you were not deeming worthy to possess such a dignify weapon. After all, it is still in your parent's possession. No matter how hard you try, not once would they let you hold it. But then again, it is also the dragon clan as a whole who must choose whether or not to pass it on to you. Your quick-temper and bad mannerism has only reinforced their argument to not pass it down to you."

The girl stopped and made eye contact with the woman.

"I pity you child..."

Mei soon realized that it was a mistake to have shown her vulnerable self as the crystal fully engulfs her whole.

From a distance, the spider demon shed a single tear.

All of this...

She can't go back now. 

(Giggling in the background.)
