"I've never seen her cry"

Lexi:

Shortly after Enzo is pushed back into the room opposite my bed still asleep from the anaesthetic. They wire him up before placing a drip through his arm and wires on his chest. "This sends flashbacks from the shooting at the old house", i say looking at him lay there full of wires.

"He should be awake in the next 15 minutes
if he isn't give us a call, when he does wake things will be slurred due to the aesthetic and don't let him get out of bed under any circumstance he needs to stay there so we can keep and eye on him", the nurse says before leaving.

"I'm going to take a walk call me back when he wakes up", i say limping out of bed. "I don't think you should", Santi says standing up from his. "I'm fine I'll go and get us some drinks", i reply walking out.

Caleb:

"She's upset", i say as we watch her walk out. "And she has every right to be, she's just watched one of her close mates rushed into surgery", Santi says. "I've never seen her cry", i say to Santi. "She's tough, we know that she just holds it in then lets it out when nobody's looking", he replies.

"I've only seen her cry once, when her parents died", he says. "we have to look out for her, we're all she has at the end of the day", he adds. "I'm going to look for her", i say standing up. "I'll stay incase anyone comes in with any updates on aria", he replies as I walk out.

I walk over to the drinks area and see her nowhere in sight. Toilets are connected to the side so I ask a worker if they had seen her. "Yeah a girl just went into the bathroom in the corner with a bandage on her leg limping", they say. "Thank you", i reply.

I walk over knocking on the only door locked calling her name. "Lex"? "Lex are you okay"? I say as the door unlocks opening. "Yeah I'm okay just getting some drinks", she says with red eyes. She tries walking away as I pull her back into a hug. "It's going to be okay lex you hear me", i say. "She'll pull through I know it she's strong", i add.

"I know, help me carry the drinks"? She asks as I nod. We head back to the room carrying the drinks seeing Enzo stood next to Santis bed. "What the fuck you were meant to keep him in bed", Lexi says putting the drinks down before grabbing him by the arm. "Have you been crying"? He asks her as she looks away.

"No I'm fine come on get back to bed you've been shot", she says walking him over to his side of the room. "I was shot in the leg not the heart if I could walk with the bullet in I can walk without it", he replies. "Is there any update on aria"? He asks as we look down at the floor.

Enzo:

"Not yet they just said time will tell and they can't promise anything due to the extent or her condition", i reply. We wait around for another hour making phone calls to try and figure out what went on last night and if everyone was okay.

"We lost 7 men", Santi says hanging up the phone. "Everyone else left after being informed we had aria and made it back to the house", he adds. "But I have some bad news", he says as we all look up. "Some of Gio's men escaped and he was with them", he says.

"Fucks sake"! I shout. "Why didn't anyone shoot him after we had aria", i say. "They thought he was already dead after you had knocked him
unconscious ", he replies. "We need to put the house on lockdown, no one enters and no one leaves". "I'll ring my parents to let them know", i say.

"I'll ring the men at the house to tell them and to keep watch you never know his next move", Santi says. After all the phone calls had been made a nurse walking in carrying a file before placing it down on one of the tables. "Marchetti"? She asks as I look up. "I have an update on aria the girl you were with, if you would like to follow me", she says

"Is she going to be okay"? I ask walking to a room next door. "Unfortunately I cannot say anything yet as we are only half way into her procedure, but I do have an update on her situation", she says. "So aria had gone into an hypovolemic shock caused by the amount of blood that had left her system". "This has prevented her organs from getting the correct oxygen and nutrients hence the paleness and cold feeling", she says.

"Hypovolemic shock is a circulatory failure due to effective intravascular volume loss, bloods and fluids", she says. "This effective circulatory loss leads to tissue hypoperfusion and tissue hypoxia", she adds. "There are 4 stages for this shock 1 being the least and 4 being most dangerous and we have classed her at stage 4 as she has lost around 42% of the blood in her system", she says.

"We have done a cbc and ct scan alongside an echocardiogram to test the hearts structure and function". "Wait what's wrong with her heart"? I ask. "So due to the amount of blood loss she experienced the heart is the main source that pumps the blood around her body so by her not having enough her heart could have been damaged by this", she replies.

"But you were lucky if she was left any longer her heart would've stopped working", she says. "After surgery if all goes well she will have and endoscopy placed into the mouth through to the stomach and she'll be prescribed epinephrine to increase the blood pressure and the amount being pumped from the heart", she adds.

"We have had to go ahead with tranfusions of blood to make up for what has lost alongside fluids that had been lost", she says. "So what now is it looking good so far", i say. "So far it's going well but only time will tell as she is only halfway through her procedure", she says. "She is very lucky to be alive as most patients in her situation would have passed by now", she says.

"Through cleaning her up and looking at her more closely we had calculated a number of 18 bruises across her face, arms, and legs, but mostly around her stomach and back", she says. "We had found 3 major wounds 2 on her stomach and 1 on her shoulder, alongside 5 smaller ones, 3 on her legs, and 2 on her back", she adds.

"Unfortunately from the extent and intense danger she has been in and the amount of force that has been used upon her stomach, including the 2 major wounds where she had lost most blood from the baby has not survived and unfortunately passed before you came here", she says. "I'm ever so sorry mr Marchetti but there was no possible way we could have saved the baby as it had already passed before she came to us", she says.

"Wait what baby"? I say.
