Chapter 9

"I know I fucked up"

Lexi:

We had waken up early that morning so we could head over to the house making sure everything was in order. We made sure to pack the car with things for both aria and Enzo as he'll refuse to leave her side whilst she's in there.

There was 3 of us which made it perfect to sit in the front of the car as the back still had the blood all over the seats. We swapped cars before bringing more men to the hospital to take it in turns making sure arias safe.

Santi organised the shift patterns before taking them to the location making sure there was always enough men to make sure she was safe. I stayed behind in order to ring Enzo's parents with an update on the situation.

I let them know that Enzo was doing great and the shot in the leg hasn't affected him. Alongside filling them in on everything that happened to aria and that she still is on the mend to wake up but it can take up to 24 hours for the anaesthetic to wear off.

They made it clear that they were going to come and visit in the next hour so I made sure all the bags were finished before having caleb drive me back. "Can I ask you something"? I ask Caleb as he looks at me.

Caleb:

"What is it"? I reply as she looks over. "When Enzo mentioned about aria being pregnant", she says. "You seemed off", she adds as I bite the inside of my cheek. "She told me she was pregnant a couple of days ago", i say. "She wanted to tell enzo herself which I respected so I helped her setup a night where they could enjoy themselves and have a meal so she could tell him", i add.

"When everything happened last night I was too distracted trying to find her that I forgot to mention anything", i say. "I know that sounds really bad but I didn't know any of this would have happened and now I feel like it's my fault her baby didn't make it", i add as Lexi goes quiet.

"Say something lex", i say. "I don't know what to say", she replies. "I think you need to tell Enzo but you have to wait you can't tell him right now", she says. "If I had never set up the date for them both this whole situation would have never happened", i say.

"Don't say that Caleb, nobody but gio is to blame for this", she says. "Aria asked you to help her find a nice spot to tell Enzo which you did, you didn't know any of this would happen so this isn't your fault", she says. "You just might want to brace yourself for when you tell Enzo", she says.

"I know I fucked up", i say as we arrive back.

Lexi:

"How is she", I ask walking over to Enzo still sat beside aria. "Still the same", he replies. "They are moving her into her own room anytime soon so that'll be better for her", he says looking over at her face before looking back away.

"I bought you and aria some of your stuff from the house and I rang your parents to let them know you're both doing okay and with an update on aria", i say as nurses walk in. "Are you ready"? One asks as Enzo nods before letting go of arias hand.

"Thank you for bringing some of our things lex", he says picking up the bags me and Caleb had dragged inside. We follow the nurses down the corridor to her new room before seeing both ash and Santi stood outside already guarding the room. "We aren't going to let anything happen to her ever again", i say holding him by the arm.

Enzo:

Arias pushed by the boys before being pushed into the room as ash looks down as he hasn't seen her yet. Her machines get placed next to her bed as the last set of checks are finished before the staff leave closing the door behind.

The room was much better than before, she had a place to put her clothes alongside a small dresser for any other pieces. I decided not to unpack any of her things and leave her bag at the end of her bed as somebody knocks at the door.

"Madre"(mother), i say walking over giving both her and my father a hug as they close the door behind them. "Dios mio", my mother says walking over to aria. "I'm so sorry aria darling", she says brushing her thumbs against her hand.

"Did Lexi fill you in on everything with aria", i ask as she nods. "We know about everything", my father says with a faint smile of comfort. "I'm so sorry we couldn't be there for you both", my mother says. "It was too dangerous I couldn't risk you two getting hurt as well", i reply.

"Has she had any updates since lexi called us this morning"? My father asks. "No not yet she was checked every hour throughout the night but no one has come by since", i reply. "They said she'll be awake within the next 24 hours, so there's a chance she could wake up at some point today or early hours tomorrow", i add.

"She's going to be devastated when she finds out about the baby", my mother says as a knock hits the door. "Give me and minute", i say walking outside. "We revisited the area where we found aria", someone says before pulling out a bag. "We retrieved arias bag with her possessions in", they add.

"We had to wipe everything that had blood on before placing it all into a separate bag", they say passing to me as I walk back inside the room.

"What is it"? My father asks as I place it behind my bag. "Some of arias things from the night she was taken", i reply walking back over to her bed. "We bought her some flowers we thought she might like something to keep at the end of her bed", my mother says placing them at the table stood at the foot of her bed.

"Thank you I'm sure she'll appreciate them", i reply.
"You should go home and have a shower", my father says. "Sort yourself out before she wakes up son", he says. "I can't leave her she might wake whilst I'm gone", i reply.

My parents stayed for a couple of hours before heading home themselves as they had to make sure their own house was safe. The monitors will still beeping at once another and there was no sign of aria waking up yet so I decided to look through the things retrieved from Gio's hideout as Santi walks in.

"Found something on the floor of one of the cars this morning", he says pulling out the box with the ring still inside for aria. "What's that"? He asks watching me take the bag out of the wrapping. "Arias bag from the night she was taken", i reply.

"Everything's just been lightly wiped but there's still stains on most things", i add. Pulling one thing out at a time I had found bits of makeup, her phone, a perfume bottle, and her id. The last thing I pulled out was a pregnancy test.
