This was going to be a messy chapter in the history of humanity, and this is just the beginning of a tale where a promise was made, we made a promise of a revolution.

The morning sun seeped through the cracks of the sheer curtains, casting soft golden light over the quiet room. The air is still, undisturbed by the bustle from the streets, a comforting and welcoming feeling radiating through the room.

Kurayami lay ensconced in her bed, a solitary figure in the dimly lit room. Swathed in layers of blankets and pillows, she slept in silence, her form barely visible beneath the cocoon of fabric.

She tends to be cold during the night so she always needs a few extra blankets to make sure she stays warm.

As the clock on her nightstand struck nine, an intrusive alarm shattered the beautiful silence of the room, its jarring tone echoing in the stillness. With a tired yawn, she blinked slowly, her gaze wandering around the room with weary eyes.

She reached out to her nightstand, her fingers fumbling clumsily in the dim light as she searched for the source of the incessant ringing. With a sigh of relief, she finally located her alarm clock and silenced it.

As the alarm fell silent, she closed her eyes, turning away from the window that had flooded the room with morning light. She nestled back into the warmth of her bed, allowing herself to rest for a while before the day began.

But her peaceful demeanor was quickly interrupted by someone entering her room, and calling out her name.

And that someone was her beloved brother Light.

"Ugh, noo light," She wined pulling up her covers more as she buried her face in her pillow.

She heard the faint sound of her brother's footsteps as he walked to the other side of the room. The rustle of the curtains being pulled apart and the soft creak of the window being opened slightly ajar sliced through the stillness, allowing the crisp December air to infiltrate the room.

With a groan of protest, she curled up tighter beneath the covers, feeling the chill of the morning air seeping through the crack in the window. The distant hum of traffic served as a somber reminder of the world beyond her bedroom walls.

"You need to let some fresh air into your room once in a while, I'm just doing you a favor since I know you wouldn't do it." Her brother said as he turned on the mirror on her vanity, lighting up the room a little more. "And besides I won't accompany you on a walk today so if you won't go out today at all you're going to have to settle for an open window."

"Why?" She asked, finding it a bit strange he couldn't go on a walk with her, yesterday when she asked he was able to go.

"I have a date," he said, and Kurayami quickly sat up, staring at her brother wide-eyed. "What, is it that surprising?" he laughed, leaning against her vanity while holding the edge with his hands for extra support.

"No, it's just... you always get asked but never go. Why the sudden change?" She looked at him curiously.

"Well, I decided to give it a shot. Maybe it's not so bad after all."

Kurayami couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides as she pondered her brother's sudden decision to go on a date. It seemed strange that he would decide to go on a date with a girl he barely knew, especially considering he had never mentioned her before besides once if it was even the same girl he was talking about.
