Now all she could do was wait to see the world fall apart in the midst of an all-consuming darkness.

As time passed, Light became increasingly absorbed in his studies, devoting more hours than before to his academic pursuits and it got to the point where Kurayami got tired of him and left him alone for the time being. He would soon snap out of it she was sure of it.

She knew her brother well enough to recognize when he fell into these periods of intense concentration, but this time felt different. His dedication bordered on unhealthy, and she worried about the toll it might be taking on his mental well-being.

But she had a feeling he didn't only study which caused a nagging feeling in her stomach.

So as the two walked home from School she begged him to spare some time and hang out with her, expressing her concerns about his mental health.

Agreeing to take a break from his studies, Light said he would spend some time with Kurayami, but he would resume his studies later that evening. She accepted his compromise eagerly, having missed their usual hangouts despite the short period since their last one.

Upon arriving home, they found the door locked, indicating they were the first to return today. Light swiftly unlocked the door and entered, with Kurayami following closely behind, shutting the door firmly behind them.

"Hello?!" Kurayami called out into the empty house to confirm they were alone.

"Sweet, Light do you want something?" She said, taking a chair so she could reach up to the cupboards.

Light, well accustomed to his sister's antics, simply shook his head with a small smile before heading upstairs.

"Hm, no I'll save my stomach for dinner," he replied from the top of the staircase, his voice drifting down to Kurayami in the kitchen as she rummaged through the cupboards.

As Light approached the door, reaching for the doorknob, a sudden realization washed over him, causing him to freeze in his tracks. Someone had been in his room.

With a deep breath, he turned the handle and entered the room, his mind racing with possibilities.

Light settled onto his bed, ignoring the creature's attempts to engage him in conversation. The unsettling discovery consumed his thoughts and he couldn't afford to overlook any detail, not with the stakes this high.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed up the stairs and moments later Kurayami entered through Light's bedroom door with a small bowl of various snacks in her hand. Her eyes were bright with excitement as she settled onto the bed next to Light, taking a snack in her mouth.

"Hey, Light," She said, looking over at her brother. "You know that one girl in school, with blonde hair and dark roots?" She asked and Light turned to look at her,   before he shook his head, waiting for her to say something more. "Well guess what, today my friend heard she called another girl a whore for talking to this guy in our class because she's like obsessed with him!" She ate another snack as she looked at him.

"You mean that girl the year below us, her that everyone seems to have a problem with?" He asked, keeping the conversation going.

"Yeah, that's the one," Kurayami confirmed, nodding. "And you know what else? There's a rumor going around that she had to get an abortion because she was supposedly sleeping around with three guys at the same time."
