All I Wanted - Paramore
"What's wrong with you?! I thought you were over this. You never yell, especially not because Cody hits the wrong key on his keyboard." Justin raised an eyebrow, fixing my shirt. He stared at me with his intense eyes.
After today's show, I totally yelled at Cody for something stupid.
"Yeah, I know, I just can't stop thinking about Gwen." I sigh, watching Justin as he moved to fix his hair. His face turning sour at the mention of my ex girlfriend.
He turned to me, grabbing me by the shoulders. "Trent it has been six years since she broke up with you. You know how long that is? Six years!"
"I know! I know."
"You know and yet you still sleep with nine pillows. Trent, you need professional help." He sighed. "How do you even keep them all on your bed?"
"I'm already diagnosed, what else can they do with my number nine "obsession?"
I sigh, doing air quotes.
"Trent, I mean therapy."
Therapy.
I haven't been to therapy in years.
"I don't know, man." I look him in the eyes, he's frowning. Justin never frowns. It gives him wrinkles and makes him "ugly". His words not mine.
Justin sighed, patting me on the shoulder. "Okay then, why don't we get lunch. I'm hungry and you could use something to distract you.." He grabbed my hand, dragging me out of the bathroom.
"You're right."
"I know I am." He smiled, "Does my hair look good?"
I smile back at him, "As always."
—
"Oh my gosh, I'm so over her." Justin laughs, rolling his eyes. He was talking about his ex girlfriend, one he'd only been dating for two weeks. It was more like a frequent hook up than a relationship.
"You were way out of her league anyways. Why did you even get with her?" I asked, laughing a bit.
"I saw a thing that said girls are usually more happy with guys less attractive than them so I decided to try that out except no girl is hotter than me, so I dated an ugly girl."
I raised an eyebrow, "Are you not happy?"
Justin shrugged.
"I'm not unhappy, I guess I'm just bored."
He hummed, taking a drink. "Plus, I'm in a new country, I'm famous, why not try to have fun?"
"When aren't you bored?" I laugh.
He smiled, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. "I'm happy now, aren't I?"
I shrug, "Well I don't know, are you?"
He stared at me for a moment before smiling.
"Yeah."
He nodded a bit, setting his drink down and looking at me intensely again. If anyone stared at me as hard as he did, I'd probably stress out. But I know Justin.
He makes me calm.
Justin smiled, getting ready to speak again. "I'm happy when we hang out. Happier than I've even been with some girl I barely know." He laughed a bit.
"You mean that?"
"Obviously." He flashed a brightly smile at me. His pearly whites shining at me like the gates to heaven.
"Hey, man . Do you think Gwen would give me another chance?" I smiled back, setting my phone on the table. "It was kinda awkward at Christmas and stuff but, I'm sure we could resolve that."
Justin sighed, shaking his head. "You'll never learn, will you? Even if you did get another chance with her, is it worth it?" He asked raising an eyebrow. He leaned closely over the table, invested.
Something I don't think about as much.
Is it worth it?
Hm.
Yeah. Oh, you know something else I don't think about? Justin's so quiet around anyone but the bros.
I guess he only really talks to people he's comfortable with. That's nice to think about.
"Uhh, yeah. I think so, she's my soulmate."
I said, not so confidently.
Justin looked like he was holding back a laugh, shaking his head disappointedly. "No.." He crossed his arms, "Gwen of all people is not your 'soulmate'. Soulmates aren't real."
