•Drowning in a sea of broken promises and empty words•
🎀•Chapter Eighteen•🎀
It was past 10 o'clock in the evening as the Seo family sat together around the dining table, as they always did, sharing a lively dinner filled with laughter and playful banter.
"And then, Ellen was so damn mad at me! I mean, I kind of insulted her with my sarcasm-filled words," Skye explained between bites of his food, a mischievous grin on his face. Skye always relished the opportunity to regale his family with tales of his daily office shenanigans.
"Did you really say it all like that, Skye?" his mother asked, her eyes widening with surprise.
"Umm hmm, mama," Skye retorted, the grin on his face growing even wider.
"Skye, be careful with your choice of words. She's your manager, at the end of the day. Learn to respect her," Mr. Seo warned, his tone stern but laced with a hint of fatherly concern. Skye solemnly nodded his head, for he would never dare to argue with his dad.
"Yes, hyung. At least your manager is not as bad as Y/N's manager. Damn, that guy always gives Y/N loads of work and lots of headaches," Sam chimed in, shaking his head in sympathy.
"But, Papa, you see, Ellen was being incredibly rude to me. I mean, I wished her for her birthday on our WhatsApp group chat, and she completely ignored it. I had to give her a sassy reply face-to-face for that. She may be a manager, but I don't care. First, we are humans, and she should treat us with kindness. She needs to know that," Skye muttered, his mouth full of food as Mr. Seo shook his head in a resigned manner.
"By the way, why is this time bomb so quiet today?" Mr. Seo joked, casting a glance in the direction of his daughter, who seemed lost in thought, the spoon in her hand idly playing with the food on her plate rather than eating it.
"Y/N? I am calling you, princess," her father said again, prompting Y/N to flinch and blink as she was pulled from her thoughts.
"Yes, Papa?" she asked, her voice soft and hesitant.
"What happened to you? Why are you so lost today?" her father inquired, his brow furrowed with concern.
"Umm... Actually, Papa," Y/N began, biting nervously on her bottom lip as her father hummed and nodded, encouraging her to continue.
"Papa... Our department, I mean, the boy band I work for, is going on a trip to Los Angeles for some award show and a concert," she gulped nervously, her lip still caught between her teeth as the spoon in her hand idly doodled patterns in the rice on her plate.
"And?" Mr. Seo urged, even though he already had an inkling of where this was going. He wanted Y/N to speak about it herself.
"And... and they want me to go with them to the US to style their looks for the award show and the concert," she finished, easing her gaze to look at her father with a tired sigh.
