"I can't do this anymore," I mutter, and Sam looks up from her book, "I can't take three more years of this."
She rolls her eyes, "Honestly Danny, if you hadn't slacked off then you wouldn't be stuck with a five page essay due tomorrow."
"Yeah dude, even I finished it," Tucker says, and laughs at me, "It's okay though, I'm cheering you on."
I glare at him, and turn back to my laptop, "Okay, so--what's this thing about anyway?"
"You don't even know what it's about?" Sam asks not looking up from her book, "It's about how early civilizations have affected our lives today with a detailed explanation. Good luck."
Tucker leans back against the bean bag chair in my room, tapping away at his PDA and taking wires out of a small box to replace the ones in his "tech gear." "Tuck," I mutter, "Can you write my essay?"
The techno geek shakes his head, "Sorry dude, I have to finish repairing my PDA this thing has been way wonky lately. I think I messed up the wires last time we got ghost attacked by Technus."
Before I even turn my head in Sam's direction she says sharply, "No."
"Oh come on Sam, you didn't hear what I had to say."
She closes her book, "Danny, this is high school not preschool. No one's holding your hand anymore."
I sigh, I always forget we're in high school now--then there'd be college and then jobs--the thought of getting a job gives me a headache. We didn't have any colleges in Amity Park so we'd have to go somewhere else, but what would happen if I left? There would be more ghost attacks, and I was the one keeping the town safe. I guess I could pass the responsibility onto Dani, she was always willing to help but she was young. Dani was like a younger sister to me, I would hate to see something bad happen to her. I turn my attention back to the essay, and start typing.

"Why can't we ever have one night where there isn't a ghost attack?" I say into my Fenton Phones, as Skulker blasts a couple of missiles at me, which I avoid.
"I thought you would've loved to see me," Skulker says, pretending to be hurt by my words, "After all, I think tonight is the night I finally make a pelt of you on my wall."
I growl in frustration, and send a flurry of green ecto-blasts in his direction. I happen to glance down by some buildings to see Sam and Tucker on the ground looking up at me. Suddenly Skulker's net catches me sending an electrical shock through my body.
"Danny!" my friends' voice exclaim in unison through the Fenton Phones.
I drop out of the sky, and hit the asphalt road with a hard thud. Skulker seems harder tonight, maybe I'm just tired. I let the energy build off my skin, and break free of the net. I create a ball of ice above my palm, and fill it with my ecto-energy before flinging it at Skulker. He blasts through the first one with a blast of his silver blaster, but I begin making more of the "ecto-snowballs" (as Tucker calls them) rapidly making it difficult for him to keep up. One of the ecto-snowballs hits Skulker in the chest and the freeze spreads over his metal suit then the energy inside the snowball sends an electric shock through the metal robot ghost.
Skulker falls to a frozen heap on the ground, and my friends run over to me. Sam holds out the Fenton Thermos in my direction and I'm reaching out to grab it when a blue laser light sends it flying from my friend's hand. I run in front of my friends, and create a green shield to protect them from the blasts.
"How did he--?" Sam stops when a blast hits the shield.
Skulker's arm had detached itself from the frozen robot, and lets out blasts from the metal gun on his hand. Suddenly, the ice covering Skulker begins melting rapidly and he breaks free of the ice. "Thought you could trap me, did you whelp?" he taunts, a large cannon appearing out of his back, "I guess you thought wrong."
