prologue

If there's a will, there's a way.

That's what Ponyboy Curtis always told himself.

During track practice, hard exams, and even trying to sleep after a nightmare. He always had Johnny there with him, though.

Johnny got adopted by Darry, it was all sorted out. The boy was ecstatic! But, Ponyboy has been showing a side he's never shown before in these past two months that Johnny's been living and sharing a room with him.

Even when Johnny had to sleep in jail for a week while the adoption was being considered and settled, Ponyboy was just his normal self.

What Johnny didn't see is that Ponyboy was being normal! He's just never lived with the boy.

See, Ponyboy had these... special feelings for the tan boy. Really, he's over the moon about Johnny coming to live with them, it's just that he can't hide his feelings anymore.

Every night they go to bed, the urge to hold the older boy haunts him. Almost falling off of the bed just to not expose his love for him. Giving his left overs to Johnny, knowing he's to afraid to speak up wanting seconds. Fixing his hair when out of place before Two-Bit comes over, even though it'll just get messed up again from his rough housing.

All of these things, Ponyboy sure is hesitant about, but does it without thinking. You know?

The guilt of seeing the boy watch the new, loving family play in his childhood house while his parents are locked up. He'd do anything to never walk past that house again, but Johnny loves playing with the little girl.

Anything for Johnny.

Do it for Johnny.
