Samurai, or Sam, is one of the five main protagonists and a member of the TMNT. She is the younger sister of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo and the youngest daughter of Master Splinter. She is the "free spirit" of the team.
Physically the smallest of the turtles and is rather childish. She is also noticeably more human in appearance when compared to her brothers (with brown hair and a more human face) because she had the most contact with human DNA before their mutation.
Sam is enthusiastic about, well, most things. She shares a strong bond with each of her brothers. She is also extremely aggressive, tough, and assertive when she wants to be, but she is loving, cheerful, and free-spirited most of the time. She is more cunning than she lets on, which comes in handy in tight spots. She tends to think more about the more important things in life, like family and friends, which gives her a sense of mind that her brothers cannot match. She's a creative tomboy and lighter than her older brothers in more ways than one, because she's carefree and only weighs 90 pounds. Being the youngest AND the only girl comes with its ups and downs.
Samurai and her brothers were once ordinary turtles; when they were infants, they were adopted from a pet store by Hamato Yoshi. When their soon-to-be father walked past a strange man—a Kraang droid—he felt something odd about him and followed. Unfortunately, Yoshi gave away his position when he accidentally stepped on a rat's tail. The Kraang found him and attempted to kill him, but Yoshi fought back. In the end, the Kraang dropped the canister of Mutagen they were holding, causing the turtles and Yoshi to mutate. Yoshi, having stepped on a rat, thus mutated into a humanoid brown rat by the name of "Splinter," while Sam and her brothers, after coming into contact with Splinter when he was human, mutated into humanoid turtles. Splinter knew they would never be accepted in society, so he took them to the sewers, made a home down there, and made the five turtles his children. Knowing the world would be dangerous and there would be a time when they would want to explore the outside world, Splinter trained them all in the art of Ninjutsu. Sam is named after the great warriors of Japan, the "samurai," and her brothers were named after great Italian Renaissance artists from a book Splinter fished out of the storm drain.
Relationships:
Leonardo - Samurai's oldest brother. She and Leo don't seem to fight that much with each other, but Leo sometimes criticizes her reckless behavior. Sam also tends to support Leonardo whenever he feels he is doing a bad job. Samurai doesn't seem to interact with Leonardo as much as she does with her other brothers, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. However, she does does have a strong bond with her oldest brother.
Raphael - Samurai's second-oldest brother. Similarly to Mikey, she gets teased by Raph in a playful manner (sometimes violently), which is almost always punishment for her cheerful behavior. Raph is very protective when it comes to Sam and she cares about Raph. Although, she will tease him back when given the chance, as his temper does not scare her at all.
Donatello - Samurai's third-oldest brother. She seems to argue with Donnie a lot because of their different perspectives on situations, but they do tend to get along while they're fighting Kraang or the Foot, or when they do projects together. Also, they seem to be really close as brother and sister. It is also shown that Donnie is very protective of her. She is close to Donnie, and they interact a lot, sometimes in his lab, where she supports him in his experiments.
Michelangelo - Samurai's fourth-oldest brother. Mikey hangs out with Sam the most, and they both share similar traits. However, when the stakes are high, Mikey stands up for his little sister. Mikey and Sam share a bedroom, and it shows that they both hate cleaning, given how messy the room is. Mikey really shows just how deeply he cares about his sister. Mikey seems closest to Sam out of all her brothers, sometimes pulling pranks with her. They also share many interests, such as video games, skateboarding, and cartoons.
Splinter - Samurai's adopted father. The two of them have an open and caring father-daughter relationship. Despite being adopted, Splinter always made Sam feel like his own daughter. She always calls him "father" and only calls him "sensei" when they are training, which he gladly allows. Sam has always sympathized with him and tried to understand his strictness, but she can't be a perfect angel all the time. ;)
Personality and Appearance:
Sam is the youngest of all the turtles and the only girl, making her the one who is always getting babied; however, it was confirmed that her maturity level is higher than Michelangelo's. She is also very independent most of the time. She is the only one who wears actual clothes and mostly wears a dark red sweater and black sweatpants. She is also impulsive and easily-angered when someone messes with those she cares about. She may not be as hyperactive as Mikey, but she comes in a close second. She is very proud of her talents for making people feel better physically and emotionally with her smile. Her weapon of choice is a pair of tessens passed down in the family.
She might come across as cute and bubbly, and have a problem when it comes to taking too many risks, but she is clever and quick-witted. Unfortunately, she is not always super cheerful, as she has a vicious side she does not like to show, such as the rare occasions where she holds a grudge. But she always has a loving heart and is always there when her big brothers need her. Whether it be in battle, facing their worst fears, or emotional outbursts.

Author's Note: I know that in the show Splinter gave his tessen to April, but in this alternated version where he had another daughter, he passed it down to her like he wished he could have done with Miwa. April will still have her tanto and psychic powers. I drew the character picture on my laptop myself. Cartoonized characters are my jam!
