Not long after beating the Squirrelanoids, Donnie found himself emotionally struggling again. It had been a while since they last saw April, and his lovesick heart wasn't handling it well. On top of that, he was really putting pressure on himself to create a retro-mutagen in order to change Mr. O'Neil human again. Because of this, he had been sharing his feelings with Tim, who was still a mutant blob of goo in a glass containment unit. He was a good listener for Donnie, but perhaps a little too good.
To make a long story short, after hearing Donnie's stories about April, Tim felt bad for her and wanted to be her friend. He somehow grew himself some arms and legs and escaped Donnie's lab. He rampaged through the streets, trying to find April, but the turtles were hot on his heels. Tim had managed to find her, but before he could do anything, Donnie hit him with a failed retro-mutagen, putting him in a deep freeze.
April wasn't ready to talk, still being mad about her dad's mutation, but she shocked Donnie more when she told him she thought Sam was right about her. She did always bring trouble that the turtles had to fix. Also, Sam was still holding a grudge, wanting nothing to do with April at all. If they wanted to put it behind them, both sides had to be willing to talk, and right now, neither one was. The time wasn't right.

Today, Donnie was in much better spirits, but he, Leo, and Raph had to make breakfast themselves because Sam and Mikey had slept in. They just weren't good in the kitchen. They burned the toast, Raph got orange juice in Donnie's eye, they set the stove on fire making eggs, and the hot pan went flying and hit Raph in the head when Donnie bumped Leo.
"Donnie! I told you scrambled!" Raph grunted, wiping fried eggs off his face.
"Oh, man. This place is a disaster." Leo groaned.
"Yeah, Sam usually does the cooking! What the deal? SAM! Mikey, get up!"
In Sam and Mikey's room, the two youngest turtles are roused from their peaceful slumber by Raph's rude awakening. Mikey was under his blanket, so Sam couldn't see him when she sat up, her hair now a rat's nest. "Oh, brothers." She groaned drowsily. "They'd be skin and bones if I weren't around." As the yellow-clad turtle quickly got out of her pyjamas, Mikey groaned and got up too.
He was so drowsy, he almost put on dirty underwear instead of his mask. Sam had her back turned, so she still didn't see him. "Sis, I feel awful." Mikey whined. "Maybe I shouldn't have had that jalapeno cappuccino pizza last night." Suddenly, just before they left their room, Mikey caught sight of himself in the mirror. "Huh?" And he screamed so loud, it was heard in the kitchen. "WHAT THE?! SAM, HELP ME! I'M A MUTANT!"
"Uh, he's just realizing that now?" Leo asked in confusion. Just then, Sam came running in with Mikey in tow, both looking very disturbed. "Guys! Look at him! He's covered in turtle zits!"
"Oh, GROSS!"
"Talk about shell-acne." Raph said, backing away from Mikey. "You look like a green chimichanga."
"Don't worry, Mikey; it's just part of being a teenager." Leo reassured.
"Have you ever had 'em?" Mikey asked.
"Heck no!"
"Hold up, guys." Donnie said, taking out his scanner. "I think this might be serious."

Soon after, they were in Donnie's lab. Mikey sat on a chair as Donnie examined him closer. "Okay, Mikey. The good news is, these so-called "zits" aren't gonna hurt you. And, more importantly, they won't interfere with making breakfast."
