After some time had passed, Adam found himself frequently gazing down at the Earth, observing the lives of those (Y/N) had left behind. He saw her co-workers gathered in their break room, their laughter cutting through the air like a knife.
"Did you hear about (Y/N)?" one of them asked, her voice laced with a mocking tone. "Oh, yeah," another chimed in. "Poor thing really lost it, didn't she?"
Her boss, a portly man with a perpetual sneer on his face, snorted. "I always knew there was something off about that girl. Good riddance, if you ask me. I certainly won't be wasting my time at her funeral." "Same here," agreed another. "I have more important things to do than mourn someone like her."
Their cruel words echoed in Adam's mind, each one stoking the fire of his rage. He turned his gaze to another scene, where (Y/N)'s former friends were hanging out at Mark's apartment. They were all smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.
"Hey, are we going to (Y/N)'s funeral? It's in a few days." Abby asked, taking her cigarette out of her mouth, her voice surprisingly somber for once.
Mark snorted then took a puff, shaking his head. "Nah, why would we? She was always such a downer. Besides, I'm surprised she didn't off herself sooner."
The others laughed, and Tommy added while wrapping his arm around Carol's shoulder, "Yeah, she was always too weak for this world." Carol smirked and snuggled into her boyfriend while taking a quick sip of her beer. "Good riddance. We don't need her dragging us down anymore. I bet the funeral will be just as boring as she was"
"Heh, the only I'll miss about her is how she bought us stuff." Mark added. They all laughed, the sound like nails on a chalkboard to Adam's ears.
...
As he returned to his heavenly abode, the weight of his powerlessness crashed down upon him. The walls of his penthouse seemed to close in, suffocating him with memories of (Y/N) and the injustice she had suffered. Without warning, Adam erupted in a storm of rage, hurling objects across the room, shattering them against the walls.
"I should have protected her," he roared, his voice echoing through the halls of his home. "I should have done more!"
His celestial energy crackled around him, illuminating the room with a fiery glow. But as quickly as the rage had erupted, it subsided, leaving Adam kneeling amidst the wreckage, tears streaming down his face.
"I failed her," he whispered hoarsely, his voice raw with anguish. "I promised to protect her, and I failed."
In the silence that followed, Adam's mind raced with thoughts of (Y/N)-her laughter, her kindness, the warmth of her touch. He remembered the nights they had spent together, sharing dreams of a future that now seemed cruelly out of reach.
Adam's heart ached with a deep, searing pain as he watched these scenes unfold. He couldn't believe how cruel and heartless those people were, how little they valued the beautiful soul they had lost. Tears of anger and sorrow streamed down his face, mixing with the unyielding resolve that had taken root in his heart.
"I won't let this stand," he whispered to himself, his voice filled with a fierce determination. "They may mock her, they may dismiss her, but I will avenge her. I will find her, and I will exterminate every sinner in Hell until I do. Don't worry (Y/N), your guardian angel is coming to save you."
