After embarrassing himself at the checkout, Dan found himself a Daphne costume, and the others bought theirs with no problem. Louise made plans as to who was being which character, and coincidentally made Dan and Phil, Daphne and Fred, thinking they would be a better pair than herself and PJ. She also got a Scooby costume for her little girl, Pearl, as she couldn't help herself at how adorable it was. Even though, sadly, Pearl wouldn't be able to come with them to the party they would all be attending.
Finally, the gang was dressed up and ready to go to a friend's Halloween party. While in the limo there, Dan constantly shifted his legs restlessly, and pulled the purple skirt down to his knees but they wouldn't stop riding up his thighs. Phil seemed to take notice, and put his hand on Dan's, which was on his knee. Dan's heart leaped at the sudden touch.
"Dan, it's okay," said Phil with a comforting smile. "Your body is beautiful."
Dan's tense and tight chest suddenly pushed against his lungs allowing him to breathe out, and relax himself. He half smiled towards Phil.
"Thanks," he said, before turning to face outside the window, with the feeling of Phil's hand still on his.
The limo rolled up to a fine private British bar, where the group stepped out of the vehicle, paid the driver, and headed inside. Dan still felt a little insecure about the fact he was wearing a skirt, but he walked into the bar with his head held high, and he grew to like wearing the shirt. It was more breathable than his usual skinny jeans, and after a few drinks, he felt free and flexible.
"Okay, Dan, I think that's enough wine for you this evening," said Louise, gently removing a half empty glass of wine from Dan's hand.
"But Loouuiiisssse," Dan whined, "it makes me feel faannnceeeeyyy."
Dan was pretty drunk, but at least it got him to loosen up a bit. PJ and Louise were pretty much the only sober ones, only to have had at least two drinks, and Phil was only slightly tipsy. He stumbled over to Louise and Dan with PJ beside him.
"I feel like doing something stupid," Phil said aloud, not thinking before saying.
Dan rested his arm on Phil's shoulder, and looked at him mischievously.
"I'm ssstupid, do meee," he slurred drunkenly.
Phil let out a loud laugh, and Dan did also. But then Dan slapped his thigh and looked Phil up and down. Dan leant into him with his hands gripping Phil's shoulders, and a seductive look in his eyes.
"Of coursssee," Dan slurred, his voice low and husky. "That was only merely a...sssuggestion."
Phil's eyes widened as he realized what was about to happen. But then he relaxed as he thought better of what would happen. It's not like Dan would remember anyway. So Phil leaned forward, closing the gap between them, and all around them seemed to disappear. Like the room was dark and a void of people or anything at all, but with only themselves in the room.
Even though Phil only meant this as a playful gesture, he could feel his heart pounding against his chest in rhythm with Dan's. He could feel the lightness in his head that he thought could just be the alcohol taking effect, but he liked the feeling. He could also feel the warmth spreading throughout his entire body when he remembered who he had been kissing this whole time. And he wanted more of it. Phil gently licked Dan's bottom lip, asking for entrance. Dan smiled as he opened his mouth to receive another kiss from Phil. A much deeper and lustrous kiss than the first.
"Ahem, why don't you two get a room?"
Dan pulled away from Phil slowly and whirled his head around to face PJ with a drunken frown of annoyance. He put his finger to PJ's lips.
"Why don't you ssshut up, and we might?" Dan slurred, and grabbed Phil by the collar of his shirt, pulling him over to face him.
"Shall we?" Dan cocked an eyebrow and smirked.
Phil, only slightly drunk and thinking kinda clearly, was a little nervous. He didn't want to take advantage of Dan, even though he did just kiss him a few seconds ago. But what started off as a light hearted joke, was quickly turning into something serious, and Phil wasn't prepared for it. He removed Dan's hand from the collar of his shirt and sighed.
"Dan, I think we should go home," Phil said with a pleading look in his eyes.
Dan huffed and frowned.
"But Phiiiiilll," Dan whined, "we were having fun!"
Then Dan leaned in closer, putting both of his hands on Phil's chest, and lifted his heel from off the ground like a teenage girl.
"Pwease," Dan pouted, "I didn't get in this skirt for nothing."
Phil chuckled uncomfortably and put Dan's hands down to his sides. Then he looked over to PJ and Louise. He moved his head, gesturing to the exit.
"Let's go," he mouthed to them.
Louise got the message, and had PJ carry Dan, bridal style, out of the bar, and into the limo they came in. Dan eventually fell asleep on Phil's shoulder on the way home, and he smiled down at Dan. But his smile disappeared soon after it appeared. He had to admit, Dan was pretty adorable, but he couldn't be with him. Even if their viewers had changed, they couldn't bring that sort of attention into their lives. It was just too complicated. They're best friends, nothing more and nothing less.Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
Dan slammed his hand on the snooze button angrily, and turned onto his back, rubbing his temple soothingly.
"Why do I still use that bloody alarm clock?" Dan grumbled to himself.
He attempted to sit up but the throbbing in his head pinned him back down, making him unable to move. He would have to use his other resources.
"Phhiiilll!" Dan hollered. "Could you get me some Ibuprofen from the bathroom?"
In less than a few minutes, Phil walked into Dan's bedroom with a pill and a glass of water in hand.
"Thanks," Dan mumbled tiredly, sitting up and taking the pill.
Phil sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed shakily. Almost as if he was extremely anxious.
"What's wrong?" Dan asked, taking notice.
Phil's eyes met Dan's with a fearful glance of what looked to be guilt.
"I-I'm fine," Phil said, shaking his head dismissively. "Don't worry about me, you're the one with a horrible hangover."
Dan chuckled lightly and held his head in his hands, massaging his temple.
"I hate when you're right," Dan mumbled grumpily, which made Phil chuckle, but then he quickly turned serious.
"Dan?" He questioned nervously.
"Do you remember anything from last night?"
Dan looked up with a thoughtful intent in his eyes, and tried to look back on the night before. His mind was blank.
"Not a lot," he said dismissively, "all I remember was wearing that awful purple skirt, and how I kept pulling it down to my knees because I felt so insecure in it and...yeah, that's it."
Dan shuddered in disgust as he remembered the feeling of being in that skirt. How uncomfortable he was wearing it. But then he remembered Phil telling him his body was beautiful before they went into the bar, and he smiled to himself.
"To tell you the truth," Phil said suddenly, "purple really suits you."
Dan looked up at Phil, and smiled at the compliment.
"Thank you," he mumbled bashfully.
Phil smiled, and almost turned his head away again when he noticed a journal on Dan's bedside table. Usually, the stuff in Dan's room was simply there for a reason you wouldn't want to know, but this certain journal piqued Phil's interest. He had never seen Dan write creatively, unless it was a tweet or something on tumblr.
"What's this?" Phil asked Dan, moving his hand towards the journal.
Dan immediately panicked, and snatched the journal before Phil could touch it. He held it close to his chest, and his cheeks burned a faded red.
"Uhm," Dan's voice cracked with nervousness, "n-nothing, just personal writings."
Phil retracted his hand from the journal — respecting Dan's privacy — and brushed off ever mentioning it.
"Sorry," Phil said in a low and guilty tone.
"I'll let you get dressed now."
Phil got up and walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him. Dan sighed and looked down at the journal in his hands. Yeah, they were personal writings. About them.
