Dan fluttered his eyes open, and he felt his eyebrows wrinkle in confusion at the sudden silence of his alarm clock. He also felt and noticed an arm across his chest.
"It's too early," said a sleepy voice.
Dan's heart dropped after hearing the familiar voice. He brought his hand out from underneath the covers, and analyzed the arm. The hand was soft, and gentle. The rest of the arm was slightly cold with little goosebumps scattered up and down it. Dan looked to see who the arm belonged to, even though he had a pretty good guess of who it was.
Phil had his eyes closed still, and he was snuggled up close to Dan, with his head almost on his shoulder. Dan gently shook Phil's arm to wake him.
"Phil," Dan asked him quietly. "Why are you here?"
Phil fluttered his eyes open, and looked up at Dan in a sleepy daze.
"You asked me to stay, so I stayed," Phil told him in the same quiet tone.
Dan then sat up, and looked around his room. He noticed the room had a comforting look to it, with the sunlight streaming in from behind the curtains — giving the room a warm glow. It was the best the room had ever looked. Dan looked down at his bare chest, and then slowly down at Phil.
"D-Did we...did we—?" Dan paused, and Phil abruptly sat upright and shook his head.
"No-no-no!" Phil panicked. "We didn't."
Relief washed over Dan as his body relaxed back into the covers, and pulled the sheets over his chest.
"It wouldn't be smart of us to do it when we only got together yesterday," Phil told him simply.
Dan looked up at him trying to process what he said while still being half awake.
"Yeah, I guess," Dan said groggily.
Dan turned onto his side to try and fall back asleep, and Phil followed the same actions, spooning him.
"This feels nice," Phil spoke gently.
"Mhm," Dan hummed. "You don't know how long I've waited for us to be here like this."
There was a pause, before Phil let out a small snort.
"Ten years?" He asked teasingly.
Dan narrowed his eyes in annoyance, and turned back around to face Phil, who had a cheeky grin on his face.
"On second thought, I can wait a little longer," Dan joked, getting up from the bed, and walking towards the door.
"Hey!" Phil said defensively. "You're taking all the warmth with you!"
Phil jumped out of the bed, and dashed towards Dan, wrapping his arms around his waist. Dan could feel him shaking against his back, and the goosebumps forming on his arms. Dan turned around and picked up Phil, holding him close while Phil wrapped his legs around him.
"You are so lucky I love you," Dan said, trying to hold back a grateful smile.
Phil smiled too, and kissed Dan's lips sweetly.
"I really am," Phil said proudly.
The two chuckled together, and Dan put Phil back in his bed while he searched for something to wear for the day.

After dressing themselves, they decide to go down to their local coffee shop for breakfast. It's only a two minute walk, and they didn't really have any breakfast food at the house, so 9:30 am coffee shop it is.
They walk in with Dan's hands shoved into the pockets of his winter jacket, and Phil wearing colorful mittens his mother got him for Christmas.
"Hello," Phil said kindly to the lady running the till. "One grande Caramel Macchiato, one grande Gingerbread Oat Chai, and..."
Phil trailed off looking at the baked goods on display in front of him, and his eyes lit up excitedly. He looked back to the lady at the till.
"And two snowmen sugar cookies, please," Phil said, finishing up the order.
While the order was being processed, Phil told Dan to find them a place to sit, and Dan went off towards the red couches. Phil's attention was brought back when the cash register made a chime that meant the total had been rang up.
"Alright, that'll be £17.56," the lady said politely.
Phil got out his wallet and used his card on the machine. The register chimed again, and the lady got out two mugs.
"Name?" She asked.
"Phil," Phil answered. "Phil Lester."
The lady wrote down his name on the receipt, and placed it underneath one of the mugs.
"Your order will be ready shortly," she said with a sweet smile.
"Thank you," Phil said finally, and stepped back to wait patiently for their order.
As he waited, he looked around the coffee shop to take in all the beautiful details. The tills were built of beautiful walnut wood that went around the entire bar, with industrial dark oak wood bar stools tucked underneath the bar neatly. Behind the bar, Phil could see rows upon rows of wooden shelves with different bottles and jars that contained baking ingredients, coffee beans, and possibly spices. There were also small vintage relics and clutter along the shelves which only made the atmosphere more warm and cozy. Phil looked up to notice warm string lights hung around the place, and even some lanterns as well.
Phil noticed the floors were made from cobblestone, which he realized, by shifting his weight from one foot to the other, made the ground a little uneven. The rest of the place was sort of dark but you could slightly see the warm sun streaming in through the curtains of the frost bitten windows. A winter's day at the end of December is when the sun peeks out from behind the clouds just enough for it to look golden yellow instead of blinding white, and it couldn't look any more aesthetically pleasing.
"Phil Lester?" The lady at the till said aloud, snapping Phil out of his thoughts, and heading back towards the till.
"Here you are, dear," the lady said kindly, giving Phil his order.
"Thank you," Phil replied sweetly, before going off to find Dan.
Dan was sitting on a mahogany sofa, next to a small window with a table in front of him, and scrolling through his photos on Instagram. He looked up to see if Phil had found him, and he almost choked on a laugh when he saw Phil holding two mugs of coffee, and looking around like a lost child. Dan started to chuckle to himself with an embarrassed smile on his face. After controlling his laughter, he called out to his poor boyfriend.
"Phil," Dan waved a little. "I'm here."
Phil turned his head to the direction of where he heard his name, and saw Dan waving at him. Phil's face immediately burned red in embarrassment as he walked briskly towards Dan, setting the mugs down, and sitting down next to him with his face hidden behind his hands.
"How long were you planning on not helping me?" Phil asked, his voice muffled by his hands still on his face.
"Not very long," Dan said honestly. "Just had to calm myself down from laughing so much."
Phil looked up from his hands to see Dan smiling as if he wasn't being fully honest, and rolled his eyes in a playful manner.
"You're so mean," Phil chuckled, picking up one of the sugar cookies he bought and taking a bite.
"Maybe," Dan admitted. "But it's because I love you so much."
Dan gently and carefully picked up his Macchiato with both hands, and took a few tentative sips. When he put it back down, he felt a hint of puzzlement and looked at Phil.
"How did you know to get me this?" Dan asked curiously.
Phil rolled his eyes and smiled — as if Dan had just asked a question with the most obvious answer.
"Don't you remember our first Day In The Life video?" Phil explained. "You ordered that exact drink."
Dan looked back down at his coffee, and felt a little pang in his heart. That was nearly seven years ago when they uploaded that video. 2012. A year that was repressed by everyone who lived through it, even though Dan felt like life took an abrupt stop during that time.
"Dan, you're doing it again," Phil said with worry.
Dan looked back up at Phil sitting next to him, and he felt a single tear fall from his eye.
"Doing what?" Dan asked with a little tremble in his voice.
Phil noticed the tear, and wiped it away gently with his thumb. Then he just held Dan's face in his hand for a second longer to look into his eyes, and read his thoughts.
"You were in your own little world again," Phil said with a smile, and dropped his hand from Dan's face. "Enjoy the present moments, and don't dwell on the thoughts of the past."
Dan chuckled softly, and sniffed away the rest of the sadness forming in his mind. He looked down at Phil's hand, and gently intertwined it with his hand.
"With you around, it'll make it easier," Dan said, taking another sip from his mug.
Phil half smiled with pride and took another bite of his sugar cookie.
"This is really good, by the way," Phil said, gesturing toward the cookie with his eyes.
"Yeah?" Dan said in a gentle tone, smiling cutely.
Phil took the other sugar cookie and held it up in front of Dan's mouth. Dan instinctively opened his mouth, and Phil fed him the cookie. After a slight pause, they looked at each other and broke into giggles. Dan took the rest of the cookie, and groaned in pleasure as he closed his eyes and ate the rest of the cookie.
"Dan, would you please stop making those noises?" Phil asked with a nervous smile.
Dan cocked an eyebrow slyly, and groaned louder, which caused Phil to panic and cover Dan's mouth with his hand. Dan finally opened his eyes and looked at Phil with an annoyed look. Phil eventually uncovered Dan's mouth.
"It's just you and your dirty mind," said Dan with his voice slightly muffled from the sugar cookie in his mouth.
Phil rolled his eyes, and they both burst out laughing as they continued to enjoy their morning.
