It took Dan a second to process what was happening, and if it was actually happening. He felt Josh's fingers against the sides of his head, moving in a messaging motion. It felt rough, and wrong.
When Josh attempted to deepen the kiss, Dan got a grip on him, and pushed him with all his might onto the other side of the sofa.
"What the hell are you doing?" Dan asked, wiping his mouth frantically.
Josh only wiped his bottom lip and bit the corner of it seductively.
"Come on, I've seen the way you looked at me," Josh said, slowly crawling his way back to Dan. "Phil's annoying anyway, you are so much more...thrilling to be around."
Josh trailed his fingers up Dan's leg, moving in closer. But Dan knew how wrong this was, and he was feeling far too uncomfortable. He stood up abruptly, panting heavily with rage and anxiety.
"No!" Dan shouted with his voice breaking in emotional pain. "You will not do this to Phil!"
He pointed down at Josh.
"Phil is a kind, respectful, and wonderful person!" Dan cried. "He wouldn't hurt anyone, not even his worst enemy! He is a lovely person to talk to, and I would know, because when he talks, he always has my full attention!"
There was a brief pause, before Dan continued with tears trickling down his cheeks.
"Don't you ever call him annoying! You have no idea how lucky you are to have him!"
At that moment, snow poured down on the windows followed by hail, making it sound like there were bullets being shot nearby. Dan didn't blink an eye, and grabbed his coat from off the sofa.
"Well thank you," Dan said bitterly, putting on his coat. "For assaulting me and hurting Phil."
Dan slipped on his shoes, and opened the door. He looked back at Josh, who wore a smug of distaste.
"You should be proud," he said in a low, intimidating tone before he slammed the door.Phil returned to the lounge, and Josh immediately stood up to check if Phil was okay.
"Baby, I'm sorry for all the racket," Josh said in a gentle tone, rubbing Phil's arms comfortingly.
Phil didn't look into Josh's eyes, and instead looked at the floor with his arms crossed over his chest. He had a cold look in his eyes, that made his eyes more ice, than ocean blue. He pulled his arms away from Josh.
"Don't touch me," Phil spoke in disgust. "And don't call me that."
Josh ignored Phil's requests, and smoothly ran his hands around Phil's waist and stomach with lustful intent.
"You seem tense, baby," Josh said, softly grinding into Phil's side. "Why don't we just...ease up the tension in the bedroom?"
Phil's heart began to beat fast with adrenaline.
"No!" He shouted. "I heard and saw everything! How could you do that to him?!"
Phil pushed Josh off, and stormed to the front door.
"Do that to him?" Josh repeated in bewilderment. "You're defending the little bitch?"
"His name is Dan," Phil said firmly. "And I'm going back to him, because he treated me so much better than what you deserve. Goodbye, Josh."
With that, Phil slammed the door and ran after Dan, with no real knowledge of his whereabouts.
Dan ran in the heavy snowstorm until he got to a bus stop, and took shelter inside to avoid the bitter cold. He knew he was stupid for running home and not calling a cab or taking the train, but the adrenaline pumping in his veins wanted him to get out of the situation as quickly as possible.
Dan sat on a bench, and let the tears run down his face. The tears he hadn't cried in a long time. The tears that he held back when he was alone in the house with Phil elsewhere with someone else. He so badly wanted that someone to be him, but after that confession, there was no way he could show his face to Phil ever again.
"Why?" Dan asked himself.
Why couldn't he just go back to a time where he didn't love Phil so much? Why did things have to change? Why is love so complicated?
Suddenly, there was the sound of heavy footsteps trudging through the crunchy snow on the pavement. Dan turned his head to see the sprinting figure getting closer, and his fight or flight kicked in. He stood up, but was too cold and tired to run away or fight back. So he froze. Then a pair of piercing blue eyes came into view, along with white flakes in pitch black hair, and pale white skin that almost blended into the winter storm.
"Phil?" Dan questioned in a shaky and barely audible voice.
The figure stopped about four feet away from Dan, and it was in fact Phil, running after him.
"I heard everything," Phil said, panting heavily with his breath visibly seen. "I dumped Josh, it's over between us."
Dan couldn't tell if he was just so cold from being outside, but he felt warmth again flowing through his veins.
"But all those things you said about me," Phil continued. "Was it all true?"
Dan swallowed back his tears, as he tried to form words into what he wanted to say.
"Yes," he trembled. "Yes, it's all true."
Phil started to feel tears burning from his eyes, and melting the snowflakes from his eyelashes. Dan wiped off his face, and stepped closer to Phil.
"What are you doing here?" Dan asked.
Phil laughed and looked at the sky in disbelief, then looked at Dan again.
"I told you," he said. "I dumped Josh, which took me out of a place to live."
Dan stopped abruptly, and his brain began to freeze as he had nothing to reply with.
"Do you still want me as a roommate?" Phil asked with a smile.
Dan's lip quivered as he walked quicker, opening his arms, and embracing Phil as tightly as he could.
I guess things do happen like in the movies, Dan thought as he buried his face into Phil's shoulder, and melted into his arms.
"Come home with me?" Phil spoke after a brief pause.
Dan nodded against his shoulder, pulling away from the warm embrace. They walked side by side, waving down a cab, and headed back home. Back to their home.
