On the night that James Weissel officially blew the whistle on Waystar, Shiv and Elizabeth rode the elevator up to Logan's apartment with news that would land yet another blow against him. And this one, might just have the force behind it for a knockout.

The two women had watched the current affairs interview on Shiv's tablet on the car ride over, listening as Weissel worked through a list of individuals who he felt had blame to be laid at their feet. And the lucky few were: Lester McClintcock, Gerri, Bill Lockhart, Kendall and Tom.

And then there had been the ignoble abbreviation that got stuck in the throat of any person who spoke it. Incident NRPI; Incident, no real person involved.

Despite her growing success at numbing herself to the machinations of the Roy's corporate world, Elizabeth found herself growing increasingly concerned for Tom.
Something malignant was on the horizon, and she had a feeling that they were yet to see its full shape; that they would only know it's true scale, once it was too late. And she also knew, her boss would not necessarily balk at leaving Tom in its path.

A surprising, vicious protectiveness had reared its head at the thought.

But just then, as if to punish her for her mutinous thoughts, Shiv looked up from her phone with sincere concern on her face.

"Oh, I forgot to ask, how's it going with that nurse, for your dad? Everyone I asked said that she's the best, but if she's not, shitcan her and I'll find someone better."

The nurse in question was the result of Elizabeth's father officially moving into palliative care. He was still at home, but he'd progressed to the stage where an expert hand was needed to aid even a small level of comfort at the end of his life. And while she had agonised over finding the best candidate possible, staying up until it felt like her eyes were sandpaper when she blinked, it had ultimately been Shiv who she had turned to for help. And she had given it without hesitation.

"I haven't met her yet." Elizabeth admitted, shame bitter on her tongue. "But Maria thinks she's heaven-sent and I trust her."

Shiv hesitated for just a second, before daring venture further. "You still haven't seen him?"

Elizabeth didn't know how many days had passed since the initial story about her and Aidan had broken, as she refused to count them and be forced to face the reprehensible figure it would be. But whatever the span of time was, it was certainly far too long.
