Elizabeth was certain she could have gone her whole life without learning that the Vatican City did not have an extradition treaty with the U.S, but thanks to Kendall's act of war, she was consumed with thoughts of Logan Roy sitting down for a meal with the Pope.
Somehow it seemed quite fitting.
With the veritable hornets' nest that Kendall had kicked, were Logan to return to the U.S, he was leaving himself open to being arrested at some point in the not-so-distant future. So, that had left them in limbo. That limbo being a small Croatian airstrip, one that Elizabeth was fairly certain was predominantly used for military aircraft.
While most of the inner-circle were buzzing around in the lounge area—faces acquiring stress-induced wrinkles and sweating palms pressing phones to their ears—Elizabeth was sitting at the bar beside Roman. Shiv stood on the opposite side, resting her forearms on the marble surface as she scrolled though her phone.
With his head resting on his hand, Roman was watching PGN, his expression troubled.
Elizabeth was doing her own re-con trawling through news stories, as the anchor's robotically neutral voice filled the silence:
'-Logan Roy was personally and fully aware of the crimes committed aboard Brightstar Cruises. Kendall Roy says his father oversaw millions of dollars of payments to hide and cover up criminal activity at the cruise line. Roy went on to deliver a blistering denunciation of his father-'
Both Elizabeth and Roman's attention was taken by Shiv when she flashed her phone in their direction. On the screen was an article with a picture header that showed Karolina striding down the street:
'Further division suggested as Waystar Royco Head of PR forced out of vehicle in mid-town'
Elizabeth frowned, her mood curdling at the sight of Karolina caught in a throng of paparazzi. The ever stalwart professional, had kept her expression impassive, but Elizabeth knew that feeling of being surrounded by bursts of light and shuttering lenses all too well. She wished she could have been shocked that Kendall would force her out a car and into such a situation.
"Nice." Roman murmured languidly. When he moved to shut off the PGN news anchor's grating drawl, Elizabeth locked her phone, sensing a conversation was about to be had. "So, what are you actually thinking?"
