"Do you have everything?" McKayla asks.

"Yeah, I think so." Chris says.

"Are you sure you haven't forgotten anything and it's gonna keep you here longer looking for it?"

Chris chuckles. He puts his hands on McKayla's shoulders and kisses her forehead, "I'm gonna miss you too, baby."

McKayla wraps her arms around Chris' torso and rests her head on his chest, memorizing the sound of his heartbeat. They come apart and Chris kisses her sweetly, not wanting to leave her any more than she wanted him to leave.

They come apart and rest their foreheads against each other.

"I really do need to go now." Chris says at whisper level.

McKayla nods, "I love you."

"I love you too, Kayla." Chris syas before quickly kissing her again, "Call me when you get home from work."

McKayla nods, "I will."

They share one last kiss, then Chris gets his things and walks out.

It was an exciting tour for MIW to be on and it was great promotion for the new album. McKayla's work kept her occupied while Chris was gone. She got a long with her coworkeers and the kids very well, and she was happy.

McKayla didn't like being alone for very long though. When she had free time, she was either with her mom or with her girl friends. She always wore her beanie now; hardly ever her wig, given that her hair was growing more. She was in the process of growing it out still, but it was currently in a very awkward phase so she wore the beanie and once in a while the wig, to cover it up.

McKayla was now in the middle of lunch with Kelly at Sheetz. McKayla was, at the moment, telling all about her thoughts on the bracelet Matthew had given her and that whole situation.

"Well, I do think you should go online and try to find someone who was at the school the day of the shooting. I think it would be good for you to find someone who really understands what you went through."

"Yeah, but...What if they turn out to be another Jamie? What if the person that I end up talking to only wants to talk to me because my brother killed someone that they were close to or that their friend was close to and they want some kind of revenge?"

"That's a good point." Kelly says, "Well I'm not gonna tell you what to do; but whatever you decide, I'll be there for you. So will everyone else. Chris will be right by your side too."

McKayla nods, looking at the rings on her hand.

Kelly gives a small smile, "I still can't believe you two are married sometimes. It seems like just yesterday, you two were getting too close at Prom when Chris was still with Carlie."

"Yeah..."

"Sorry. I didn't mean to bring her up."

"No, don't worry about it. I mean...A lot of the songs on the band's new album are about leaving hte past behind. If Christopher Cerulli, the one person who has never been able to ever let anything go ever can finally  leave the past in the past, then so can I."

Kelly smiles, "Well good for you. You deserve to finally be able to make peace with everything that's happened to you."

A couple of weeks later.

Sophie was driving and McKayla sat in the passenger seat holding flowers. Music faintly played through the speakers. McKayla smelled the flowers and willed herself to smile. They were so much better than the fake flowers she'd recieved in the hospital for so many years.
