On a breezy night in Kinglanding, Aemond became frustrated, he didn't want to believe it to be true. His anger grew more major towards Aelora, he wanted to know the truth if she said these rumours.
And so the Prince arranged to meet with the Princess, he sent a letter to her chamber asking to meet him outside the castle, he also asked her to wear a cloak so they wouldn't be recognised by the common folk. When Princess Aelora received the letter, a smile was instantly put on her face, she was excited to see him, she finally thought today was the day they can go back to how they were on their dragon flight together. She tied her hair back and put on the cloak like he said, she snuck out of the castle just as the sun was setting.
As she walked out the gates of the castle she saw a silhouette of a man in a cloak, she knew immediately it was him. She nugded him giggling away in excitement to see her true love again. However, Aemond gave her a look she had never seen before, he looked hurt, not physically but almost heartbroken.
"Where are we going?" Aelora whispered.
"For a walk." He replied.
Aelora was over this game all she wanted to know was the truth.
"I need to speak with you Aemond."
"As do I with you."
"I know that my claim to the throne will always be threatened by you."
Aemond looked shocked, almost like he didn't know what she was talking about, but deep down he always envied her duties and her new responsibility to the realm as heir.
"What worries me.....is that when I do ascend to the throne. I will have more enemies than my mother." Aelora continued.
Aemond spoke at her with a soft tone, he knew she was right, he never wanted her to be scared. At the same time, it was also his birthright.
"Then I promise you this Aelora, I will fight by your side as it's not just your family, it's mine. I will shed the blood of my enemies, not the innocents."
"Thank you?" She questioned, after all this time of being ignored Aelora finally got an answer.
Aemond however wasn't finished with his sentence, he immediately cut her off.
"However."
"I'm next in line the to throne." He said bluntly.
Aelora's face immediately dropped, she never thought those words would leave Aemond's mouth, after the speech he just made to her.
"Yes, but I was named heir." She replied.
"You were? Let's just hope men of the realm except that."
The Princess' stomach turned, Aemond had changed his feelings about her in a matter of days. She wondered what she had done, it can't be that he's keeping a grudge over his eye still? Moments between them kept on going through her head as she was trying to figure out what she had done to him.
"Are you threatening me?"
"No Aelora, I'm simply stating the truth."
"We should head back to the castle, it's late."
Aemond nodded, the two walked back to the castle in silence, not a word was spoken, no eye contact, not even physical touch. He walked her to the city gates and opened them for her, she turned back to him hoping he would walk her back to her chamber. Instead, the Prince turned the other direction, back into the city.
Aelora watched as he disappeared into the night. She had never been more confused and upset in her life, her feelings towards him were more drastic, she knew she had fallen for him. However, Aelora knew he didn't feel the same anymore, she knew someone had said something to him to make him change into a different person towards her. She was determined to find out why he wants to take back the throne for himself, instead of being by her side.
