"Promise you'll call?" I asked Krish one last time before he boarded his private jet.
"Hanji baba. I'll call everyday. You have to ask?" He said and I shrugged.
Krish is leaving for London and he won't be back here for at least a while. I won't be able to visit him because of my new firm. And he'll be busy with his work.
Also did I tell you that I've got a meeting with some investors in the evening? Ofcourse I told Krish about it in case I come across another one of his enemies.
His pilot was standing a little bit away from us, on a call and the staff was loading his stuff. I tried to look everywhere but at him, scared that i'll get emotional.
"We're ready to take off sir" The pilot said and Krish nodded.
He was wearing a white shirt with rolled up sleeves. The wind blew his hair and his brown eyes looked prettier than ever in the sunlight.
He was holding his coat in one hand and the other was in his pocket.
"Jaau mai?" He asked.
"Mai mana karu to nahi jaaoge?"
He smiled "Nahi jaaunga"I chuckled a bit but then said "Go before I ask you not to"
He leaned forward and kissed me with one hand on my cheek. I kissed him back though I was blushing. We pulled back
He kissed me one last time on my forehead and we bid goodbye. I got back in my car and the driver started the car and we were out of the airport and back on the road.
In the evening:
I wore a saree to impress the investors because they're a bit old. They suggested that we met in one of the restaurants owned by one of the investors.
Krish did a background check and it was all clear so i agreed.
When I got to the restaurant, no one else had arrived and I decided to do a quick touch up. I went into the washroom and took out my makeup from my purse.
I re applied my lipstick and my mascara.
I was fixing my saree when suddenly the worst that could ever happen to me happened.
The plates opened and I lost my pin.
Hopeless and helpless I looked around for some help but no one else was there as the restaurant was reserve just for our meeting today.
Oh god.
Why does this always happen to me?
I tried fixing it but just kept messing up more and more. I feel tears falling down because of the frustration.
I had no idea what to do.
Only if I ever listened to my mom and noticed how she did it.As if it was gods miracle, someone fell in through the gate.
The girl looked around my age or maybe a little older and she seemed DRUNK. Very badly.
She basically fell when she entered the bathroom and didn't stop giggling. She stood up on her own as I looked at her, once again hopeless.
When she looked at me, she stopped smiling and I saw that her lipstick and make up was messed up. Looked like she was just crying.
"I can help you with that" She said. Her eyes were tired.
I pursed my lips as I waited another moment and then said "Please"
She tripped a little in her high heels as she walked over to me and then she made the plates again and pinned them perfectly.
She also adjusted the saree on my shoulder.
"There! All done" She said.
"I cannot thank you enough. Really—"
"You don't need to thank me babe" She said and I smiled a smile of relief."I'm Anika" I introduced myself "Anika Sharma"
She was looking in the mirror as I said that and then she arched her back and leaned back to look at me.
"Vaishnavi Singh" She said "Aren't you Krish Malhotra's wife?"
"We're not married yet"
I didn't ask her how she knew. Krish is pretty famous and so is his company. It's often in magazines and newspapers.
"Oh" She said "Why're are here though? I thought dad said the restaurants closed today"
"I have a meeting" I told her "With investors"
"OH" She said loudly "My dad... he's going to be there"
I raised my eyebrows.
"He told me about your company last night. It seems...fresh. And doesn't have a lot of turnover"
"It's not like that. I just started and we're working on 3 projects right now—"
She made a face and shrugged "Dad didn't seem too thrilled about it"
My face dropped at her words and so did my heart. I had a lot of hopes with this one and I am not going to ask my parents or fiancé to invest in my company. No
"But" She begin "I could put in a good word for you. My dad listens to me and if I urge him go for it, he will"
"Why would you do that?"
There is no way she just came in, fixed my saree AND would put in a good word for me. I'm not that lucky.
"Oh sweetheart. I'm not going to do it without any favour in return"
"What do you mean?"
"I need a job" She said.
"Job? How can I help you with that?"
She had a look on her face that I couldn't quite understand. But she seemed determined and it looked like she came prepared.
"I'm a software engineer. And I've been trying to get a job in SAKR for so long but my mails aren't responded to or seen. I have a pretty good resume and if I wanna move forward in my career, I need a company like SAKR in my resume"
I looked at her a few seconds.
"I'm sure I can do something about it"
"Then i'm sure I can get you that investment"She raised her hand forward and I shook it.
"It was nice meeting you Anika Sharma" She said "And even though I'm drunk, I will not forget this conversation so you don't have anything to worry about except getting me that job"
I nodded and pursed my lips.
I took her phone and put my number in it.
"There" I said "Ring me up soon"
She gave me a curt nod.
"I'm impressed you didn't ask me why I am drunk the fuck out of my mind"
"Well. It's not really my business"
"I like you" She said "We'd make good friends if not just an alliance"
"I like you as well Vaishnavi Singh"
We both exited the washroom and I saw that the people have gathered around and it was time for my presentation.
I walked over to the table and stood in front of them. Head help up high.
"Good evening gentlemen"
