5. Be my Date?

"Hokage Sama, you've received this letter from the Godaime.", Shikamaru handed the letter to the white scarecrow.

"Ohh, From Tsunade Sama! It's been long.."

Kakashi reads through the letter, "Ohh.. it's already been 20 years! Wow.."

"20 years?? Since what?"

"Since the last Rinne Festival! Godaime has sent this letter to remind me that it's the rinne year."

"How come I've never heard of this before?"

"Well it was a senju tradition, and almost all the senju's passed away in the third great war & the nine-tails attack after the last rinne year. People gradually forgot about this"

"Ohh.. so why once in 20 years?"

"Well... there's an old folklore that says, god only created men to reside on this planet. They survived for a while but soon the ego clashes and the raging wars of masculinity brought the population to a steep decline. The human race was on verge of extinction, that's when a beam of light flashed in the sky and god sent women to this earth. Soon from procreation, the human kind started to flourish, the union of men and women like ying and yang made this possible. The light that flashed that time, it's said to return to earth every 20 years, and so people celebrate it as the festival of love."

"Haha... that shit is straight outta some crook's mind! I want the stuff he was smoking."

"Ahh.. I know, but that last part is true though, it's a comet actually that revolves around our sun. It will be returning this year. Lady Tsunade wants konoha to celebrate it. I think it's a great idea!! Last Rinne festival was so grand, we have to beat it!"

Handling over a pamphlet to Shikamaru he said, "Here.. Lady Tsunade has done us great favor by listing all the instruction and preparations needed. Lets get started. I appoint you to take lead on this". 

"Uggghhh.. such a drag!! This is an exhaustive listtt"

"Then you must get started asap, the date of comet is only a week away from now. Lady Tsunade will be here soon." Ohh our sly hero was being such an ass towards Shika!

Shikamaru was so stunned and angry how the hokage just dumped all the responsibility over his busy ass. He had to agree to the Hokage's orders anyways. Huh.. but you wouldn't get out of this so easily Rokudaime Sama.. I will find a way to get back at you!

And so Shikamaru started preparations for the festival and advertising it in the village. It was gonna have it all - A huge fair, amazing food, fireworks and fun and games for couples. By the night, shikamaru came up with an idea to trouble Kakashi.

"Yess.. the entry will be forbidden for those who don't bring one."

"But that's so unnecessary"

"It's Godaime Sama's idea, do you wanna challenge that??"

Kakashi got scared for a second from the wrath of the previous hokage. He was shit scared of her. "Uhhh ofcourse not.. but I... can't really just ask someone for a date"

"Why not?? You are the Heart throb of Konoha.. the most eligible bachelor in the village. The White Wolf!!!"

"Okaay.. stop right there. you're getting out of character."
