"Can I ask you something?"
"Anything Haruno"
"It may sound a bit wrong.."
"you know I don't judge"
"I always consoled my heart by telling it that the reason why Sasuke never loved me back was because he was incapable of loving someone this way. That he was too broken inside to even feel these emotions for someone. And now I know, he's with Naruto? And that he loves him. I feel either I was stupid enough to never pick up on the fact that he was homosexual or maybe I was incapable of making him fall in love with me."
"hmm.. to be honest, I always thought Sasuke was asexual, he was too focused on revenge and later on redemption. I thought he won't indulge in love until he got redemption. Turns out I was wrong too. So no.. it's not like symptoms of a medical condition that you observe and tell if a person is homosexual or asexual.
"Sasuke built a fortress around him which only a few happened to trespass, and all those were the one's who were able to share a common pain with him. For a certain time even I was given a pass to linger around, understand him. But then he reinforced the wall even higher and stronger, it was impermeable. Naturally, Sasuke was indifferent towards you, because he was never able to relate with you.
"I guess with what culminated in the fourth great ninja war.. Naruto broke his fucking fort down. He barged in like he always belonged there, and made a point to never leave. He really got to him. He always did. Their bond was and is something inexplicable. Beyond the realms of right or wrong, black or white.. something like that you know.
"It was difficult to not fall in love after that. It happened before they both realised it. That's how love is right, it happens when it happens.. and with whom... you can never tell.", he completed his speech with a heavy heart. He knew he was falling for her and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Those words of his really left a mark on Sakura. She understood one can never find love by chasing it. It happens when it happens.
After consoling Sakura, Kakashi made her eat well and finally dropped her home, making sure she was doing okay. He felt so bad for her, what she had to go through. He knew nobody was actually to blame here, but still he felt like Sasuke was the only person who can bring a closure and heal her broken heart.
Early Next Morning
Kakashi stood in front of Naruto's house and rang the bell. In no time, the door flung open - it was Sasuke. "Kakashi? I'm sorry, Rokhudaime..."
"Kakashi's fine. Is it a good time to talk?" Kakashi asked.
Sasuke nodded. "Come in..."
"Naruto's not here?" Kakashi inquired, and raven shook his head. Before he could explain further, the silver head spoke again. "I guess this would be easier without him. I spoke with Sakura last night," he said, catching Sasuke's full attention.
"How is she doing?" Sasuke asked, concern evident in his voice.
"I won't say very good. She's a bit traumatised. You two seem to have presented a wild show to her."
"don't mention that," Sasuke said, lowering his head in embarrassment.
"Don't worry. She's trying to understand, even felt guilty for slapping Naruto. Give her some time to process everything. She's particularly upset with Naruto, but we all know you're equally responsible for this. I think you owe her a closure, Sasuke," Kakashi suggested gently.
"I do. I will speak with her, but will she allow me?" Sasuke questioned.
"Well, you'll have to put in a little effort at some point. She's your friend too," Kakashi reminded him.
