"So this is the shikkotsu forest?", Sasuke inquired, his voice coarse and eyes reddened from being sleepless from past 2 nights. He transported himself and Sakura to the woods with his rinnegan.
"Hai! It's just how Shishou described."
"Sasuke beware, there are mystical creatures in these woods, make sure not to agitate any of them. Katsuyu sama will guide us through the forest." There was a tiny katsuyu on Sakura's shoulder.
"Hn, as per kurama's guidance, the flowers bloomed around the rock formations in the heart of the forest."
"It's surprising how Naruto-kun found the flowers on his own so quickly..", Katsuyu commented.
"He probably used his clones", Sakura speculated. Both Sasuke & Sakura were wearing kits to prevent them from the pollen infection.
When they reached the site of the shibito-bana flowers, Sakura carefully sampled the pollen and parts of the huge flower to carry with her. Sasuke had her cloaked in an extra layer of his Susanoo. Soon as she was done, the raven teleported themselves back to the research lab. They immediately disinfected themselves and carefully sealed all the samples.
"D-do you have any leads to proceed with making the antidote? How much time can it take?"
"I've made antidotes before, but I will need to perform certain amount of trial and errors to get the composition right. Only if..", she trailed off.
"what is it?", sasuke asked.
"To create an antidote, I will be needing a catalyst, and that is the trickiest part. I don't know which catalyst would work. I read all of Shishou's research on Shibito-bana, there is no known catalyst to drive the chemical reaction. I wish she was conscious at the moment..", Sakura's voice broke.
"What do you mean? Sh-she's unconscious?", sasuke turned feverish.
"yes, after your susanoo's cloak died, she kept trying to remove the toxin from Naruto. Ultimately she caught the infection and dropped unconscious. Thankfully her condition is not as severe as Naruto, her vitals are stable. But still we can't risk having her in that state for long. I have to find the cure at the earliest."
Sasuke sat down on the chair, his lips parted in shock, "I should have held the cloak longer", he felt guilty and closed his fist.
"It's not your fault Sasuke, we feared you were infected too. But you woke up.. You even made direct contact with Naruto and are still unharmed. I don't understand how..", she said while trying to pull out some syringes from the drawer.
"I will be taking your blood samples for study. We need to harness the antibodies in your blood.", She said as she fastened a strap on Sasuke's bicep.
