6. The Dress

"I came to ask.. if you'd like to come with me as a date?", the words finally made out of kakashi's mouth. Sakura's eyes widened as the words hit her eardrums, words that she never expected to hear from her former Sensei.. her lips parted a little as her jaw almost dropped.

Meanwhile kakashi - Damn.. I said it! There's no going back now huh!? She looks mortified... I have done it... I have officially creeped her out... oh nooo... why did I have this brilliant idea to start with?? We were doing just fine... I never ever even thought of dating someone let alone Sakura.. and now I have ruined the one female friendship I valued the most in my life... no shall I explain myself? Is there a way to turn the situation around? Shall I lie that everyone else rejected me and I had to ask her as a last resort.. nooo that would worsen the situation... just don't say anything... shut up... now we have been quiet for quite sometime... it's awkward.. why isn't she saying something? Just tell say no and finish this please.... Please... just say no..

"Yes!"

"Huh?" His mind did a somersault as the reply took him by surprise.

"Oh my god!! Yes... I'd love to go with you as a date", an ear to ear smile adored her face.

"Are you sure?"

"Wait.. are you sure you wanna ask me?"

"Yes! You just took so long to answer..haha"

"I just took time to make sure if I heard you right... As you were telling me about the festival and the rule that everyone must come with a date... I worried as hell if anyone would even ask me... you know all of my friends are in relationships already except for you.. and I really wanted you to ask me, but then I thought why would you want to go with your former student? And then there was a possibility that some creep would ask me out, or worse I'd spend the night watching fireworks from my balcony alone... You literally saved my ass.. thank you!"

"You sure.. am not a last resort, eh?" 

"Noooo... Did it sound like that?.... absolutely not! To be honest... You were the second person to pop in my head... the first being.. you know..",  her face saddened a bit but she shrugged the raven's thought off her mind. "Besides... I get to be the supreme date!! The one to walk next to the most important man in the land of fire!" She chirped.

"Haha.. tbh... I am so relieved you said yes. So I will be enjoying the festival with someone I am comfortable with. Thank you!" He had a genuine smile on his face with a slight blush. 

"Wait.. when is the festival again?"

"This Saturday"

"Are you kidding me!??", She freaked out. "It's only 5 days away...how am I supposed to prepare for it... this week was going to be crazy busy at the hospital with the trainings for the new staff.. I mean my skin & hair's a mess, I am starting to show dark circles with sleeplessness... and I don't even have a dress to begin with.."

"Sakura.. Sakura.... Calm down it's just a festival..and you need not worry about your looks a bit.. you look absolutely beautiful even now.. I can take you out just like this.."

"Just like this? In my PJs?? Don't you dare ruin it for me Kakashi... I wanna look worthy being the Hokage's date". Yes she called him kakashi now. They both knew they didn't share a teacher student relationship anymore. They were kinda each other's closest friends, and at some point they reached the first name basis. It happened organically and both were happy that they dropped the sensei off. 

"Okay... do not worry, I will take care of everything. I will make sure you don't regret saying yes to this."

"How?"
