Invisible bonds

No chains bind me, yet I suffocate,
Chest tightens, breath held in a weight.
Throat constricted, a silent debate.

Free as the wind, yet trapped I find,
Stuck in place, in the shadows confined.
Promises broken, dreams left behind.

Feet mired in mud, waters deep,
A soul adrift, in darkness to keep.
Lost in the echoes, of promises to reap.

No physical bondage, yet I choke,
In stagnant waters, my spirit broke.
Trapped in the cycle, of words unspoke.
