23. Forgotten friendship

Jake's POV-

I had to take a break after all that's happened. I drove to the nearest bar, which was a good 15 minutes or so. Just wanted to relax and forget my problems for tonight.

I parked the car outside and opened the door wide. The cold, but refreshing, air hitting me straight in the face. I felt at peace already and I just knew tonight would be one of the best and calmest nights I've had for a while. I walked to the door and opened them being immediately greeted with the warm, cozy, yellow lights and the warmth of the whole building.

I walked over to the counter and sat on one of the stools. There were only a few people inside. I genuinely thought that it would be more packed, but I'm not whining. It's more free with space.

I was checking some messages on my phone, whilst waiting for the bartender to come over. I know I said I was going to relax, but if they're important.

Anyway,

The bartender comes over and I put my phone back into my pocket. I look up from the counter, but he somehow looks oddly familiar.

I intensely stare at him. Trying to recall him. He's also seeming to remember, as he is also looking at me. The same way. Then I got it.

A small smile makes its way onto my face. "Luke?" I ask unable to actually believe in who im seeing. "Jake?! No way." He beams in delight.

"It has been, so long. What are you doing here?" Luke asks smiling. "Ah, you know. Just a very stressful day, today. I needed to relax, but I never would have guesses that you work here." I could see he was about to say something, but he gets interrupted.

"Jake? No way is that you?"

My name is called out from the stools beside me. I turn to them and I see a purpled haired guy calling me.

Imagine having purple hair. Out of all the colours.

I saw the purple guy and the person beside him grinning wide and so was Luke. Does he know them. Then out of nowhere, I remembered everything,

I stood up, "Zander? Sean?" I walked over to them, as they also stood up. I hugged them with a pat on the back.

We then all took our seats again and got together and Zander chuckled "All we need is Milly and we're back together." His head slowly turned towards Sean with a smirk.

I was confused. Was it an inside joke or?

Suddenly we heard a loud squeal. We all looked behind, and saw a short pink haired girl. She had her arms linked with a tall guy. He looks like Elliot.

Sean sighs quietly.

"I haven't seen you guys in forever!" She squeals. "We got Luke, Zander, Jake and oh... it's you, Sean. Ugh," She grumbled with disappointment, whilst looking him up and down and then proceeding in rolling her eyes.

"We're missing Hailey." She adds.

Oh yeah, Hailey. I wonder if she's here too. It would be so cool if she was.

A small chuckle escapes Zander "Well, Hailey is here," he smirks.

No way she is?

"You'll see her in about 3.."

Wait what a countdown?

"2... 1..."

Then the whole place went pitch black with the lights only focused on a stage at the back. No way is she performing.

A guy came on "Please give a warm welcome to Hailey and Sebastian."

The whole room erupted in applause.

She did it. She made her dream come true. It was a small warm feeling that I felt and was proud of her that she overcame her fear. I was listening to her and partner. Their voices were amazing together and the whole band sounded extraordinary.

I had a small smile throughout the whole performance. I looked over to Zander he was so proud, you could see it across his whole face. Such a proud brother.
Hehe...

As the show ended and other musicians went up and performed, Hailey came off stage. She began walking towards as her smile reaching both sides of her face. She hasn't changed at all, she still had her long blue hair and the smile that never disappeared.

She made her way and started greeting everyone one of us. It was just like old times. Each Friday evening we would hang out anywhere depending on the weather. I missed those days.

All 6 of us and Elliot were catching up. Laughing and remembering the old memories. After an hour or so Elliot got a call from his work or something and the pair had to leave. It was a shame, but that's life.

I hoped we'd see each other soon or someday. "Alright guys I'd better get going too. Gotta pick up my family from the airport." Sean says as he checks his watch.

"Awe, it was so fun catching up." Zander smiles. Sean swings his coat around himself and waves goodbye. We all waved.

It was around 23:00 for sure. Out of curiosity I asked, "So when does the bar close." "Ah wanting to leave so soon? Well unfortunately this bar runs 24hours a day." Luke chuckles obviously joking. "No but seriously it doesn't close on the weekends," He sighs.

"So Jake, what has brought you here?" Hailey asks. "Just needed a break from everything, honestly." I shrug before getting cut off by Zander, who's swinging his glass of alcohol around. "Ok. I need to ask. Did you get any leads to your missing-" Luke nudged him hard with his elbow. "You know dear, I think you had enough to drink." He groans, "Again." The only reply he got was a giggle from Zander. Hailey sighs but it's followed by a chuckle, "Haha, at least I'm not going to have to drive him home this time." Luke rolls his eyes "Yeah, whatever."

"So, Hailey do you perform just here or anywhere?" I asked curiously. "Only here for now. My manager went on holiday for the whole duration of Winter. Lucky man." "I'm jealous." I laugh.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash and sounds of glasses being smashed onto the floor. All of our heads immediately turned to the sound.

Zander didn't look too good. He looked like he was on the brink of passing out.

"I swear to god." Luke mumbles under his breath, before walking around the counter towards the noise. I decided to go after him just to see what the chaos was all about.

In the distance there was a thump and a loud laugh.
