Jake's POV-

I felt a sudden chill run down my spine, as if someone was behind me. I slowly turned my head to see if I could spot anything, but it was too dark. The room was quiet, only interrupted by the sound of my Drew's soft breathing. I was just about to relax, when I heard a faint throat clearing behind me. I spun around, my heart racing, as I found myself face to face with the abusive father.

I stopped hugging Drew's unconscious body and set him down on my knees instead, but I still held onto him tight.

As I knelt before him, my heart racing with fear and doubt, the silence was suddenly shattered by the sound of footsteps. My head turned quickly, and I saw my friend's father standing behind him.

I saw the hatred in his eyes. He was a tall, imposing figure, and the air around him seemed to crackle with anger. In that moment, I felt completely powerless and vulnerable.

The father cleared his throat with a chuckle, and the sound seemed to echo through the room. It was a jarring or a gargling sound, a reminder of his presence and the danger he posed.

"How could you." The powerful figure gritted through clenched teeth.

I wanted to run, to get us both out of there before it was too late. But I couldn't move, frozen in fear. The father took a step towards us, his footsteps seeming to grow louder with each step.

I clutched Drew, scurrying with him backwards. I dragged him protectively backwards. Still holding his head to my chest. The father was suddenly very close, and I could feel his breath. "Back away!" My voice shook and trembled quietly, as I looked at the man who was taking steps towards the two of us.

I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare. The father leaned closer, his voice a low growl as he spoke. "You have no idea what you're getting yourself into," he whispered.

In that moment, I knew that I was in grave danger. Drew needed me, and I would do whatever it took to keep him safe.

The father approached closer with a look of pure hatred on his face. He towered over me, his fists clenched at his sides, and his eyes blazing with anger.

"You should be ashamed of yourself," he snarled, his voice low and menacing. "How dare you think you can be with my son. It's disgusting. He killed his own mother and her daughter."

I trembled, unable to move or speak. I knew that I was in grave danger, and I didn't know what to do. The father's anger was palpable, and I could feel the tension in the air.

Suddenly, the father lunged towards me, his fists outstretched. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact, but it never came. Instead, I heard the sirens.

I opened my eyes to see my boyfriend lying on my lap, bruised and beaten. The shock registered immediately, and my heart began to race. I knew that I had to do something, to help him, to protect him.

Without thinking, I lunged towards the father, my own anger taking over. "Leave him alone!" I shouted, my voice shaking with emotion. "You have no right to treat him like this!"

The father's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, he seemed taken aback. But then the rage returned, and he turned on me with a snarl.

I was ready for him, though. That's how I felt at least.

He was a strong man for his age. He managed to grab hold of my fist and then the other. He yanked me up aggressively and hissed in my face with words that cut deep and hurt, but I wasn't going to satisfy him with my emotions. I tried freeing my hands, but instead it resulted in a kick to my stomach and I got thrown at the wall.

As I made contact with the wall, I smashed my head against the pole of the staircase.

I collapsed to the ground.

Unable to move.

I felt a sharp pang in my head. I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes. I tried getting up. My hands urging to push myself up, but they trembled and gave way. My head turned to the side.

The sirens were getting louder. It was only a matter of seconds, but wait...

I looked at the now blurry figure he was getting closer to Drew. He grabbed him from behind and pulled at his hoodie. He dragged his body away from my vision. Down the corridor. My eyes felt heavier by the second. My heart was racing and my head was throbbing.

I heard a loud gunshot, which was followed by an instant glass shattering.

I was facing the front door my eyes closing. I felt exhausted, but I know Drew's safe now.

I passed out. Silence filling the air. The only sound present was my heart beating that started to slow.

Third Person POV-

The police finally arrived and charged through the front door. They immediately noticed several things.

Their eyes scanning the place before rushing to Jake. There was blood where Drew was just a second ago. The medics are taking care of Jake right now. Two officers walked upstairs. A few observed downstairs. One went down the same corridor as where Drew's father went.

He yelled pointing out the petrifying scene. The window was smashed. Blood on the jagged parts of the glass that was still attached to the silt. He looked out of the window and that's what scared him the most....
