Masons PoV-
Me, Casey and Jake arrived at the forest. To be fair I wasn't really listening or expecting anything to happen. But then the ear-piercing scream was let out. That made all three birds fly.
That I can tell you I heard. I looked at Casey and she had the same expression as me. Wide eyes. Mouth slightly parted. We both were looking at each other in slight shock. However, neither of us were actually taking this situation seriously a few minutes ago. But now it was definitely worth terror.
The three of us ran to check out the situation. Until another shot was heard, immediately Jake threw himself onto the ground. That's what we had learnt in training, but it was so close to us that I couldn't move. Casey threw herself onto me and th e ground. I was under Casey's arm and both of us were behind Jake waiting for his next action.
Maybe a minute or two of silence. However, I could just about some muffled sobs or cries, I wasn't too sure. "Do you guys hear that?" I whispered.
"Hear what?" Jake and Casey whispered both at the same time. Jake cautiously stood up avoiding of making any unnecessary noise. We then copied his actions and stood up as well.
"Sobs." I replied. We stood there listening. I even held my breath to hear better. I was definitely right of hearing something and it was most certainly sobs.
The cries were not so far away. We walked cautiously without trying to make a hassle. I was behind Jake the whole tie with Casey by my side. I was watching my every step in case of a twig or something.
Jake stopped and he looked quite tensed up, as if he just saw something.
"You guys stand back. I'll check." He pointed to us two and got closer to a silhouette. It looked like a person shaking?
He placed a hand on their back. "Everything alright?" He asked politely, but she turned her head towards him with the most horrified expression. "Please, don't hurt me." She begged and cried more. Her whole face was covered in blood and tears. "I'm not here to hurt you, ma'am. Only to help." Her eyes widened and her sobbing became more intense. "Please, please help her. Kill me instead."
I tried looking past at what she was bent over and wasn't able to see anything really.
Jake was in the way as usual.
The woman then stepped aside and bent over the thin and placing his hand on it. He bowed his head and shaker it gentle. He moved to the side slightly and then was able to see what it was. I confronted by a sight that made my blood run cold. There was a young girl, no older than eight, lying on the ground. Blood oozing out of her body.
"Holy shit." I breathed out. Casey must've heard because she was intensely looking over and was mortified.
"What happened, ma'am? Where were you both?"
We both got called over by Jake. He pointed us to the woman and told us to help her on her feet. "Please tell me, is my daughter going to live." She whimpered. "What happened?" I repeated Jake's question. Maybe she didn't hear.
"She sacrificed herself. For everyone." She whispered
For everyone?
"What do you mean for everyone, ma'am?" Jake asked. Casey was immediately by the side of the girl. She was checking her pulse and compressing her wound. I knew nothing would change this state after seeing Casey's look of defeat. Her dropping by her side, as she looked down at the corpse.
"She ran as she was told. Then someone would take the gun and shoot. And we'd all be free." She sobs as she looks at Jake with terror. "Slow down. Slow down everything is ok now. From when was she running from?" "Where was she running from? How many of you were there?" Jake continued to question her.
"I don't know from where. I've been here for years. I haven't seen anything but concrete walls. There were many of us." Her voice trembles. She looks over at her daughter and goes towards her.
"What's your name, ma'am?" "Charlie Hauges."
I look over to Casey. She must've also realised because her eyes widened. Charlie Hauges was one of the missing people from last year.
Jake nodded his head at her. She started whispering something to him. The way Jake's face dropped I will never forget. "One of you stay here with them. The other take a torch and search for another body." He grits.
He starts walking. I'm quite concerned about him and confused. The sudden mood change frightens me. "A second body?" I ask getting up after Casey agrees on staying here.
"Second gunshot. Second body." Jake stares at me. I feel like I just seen a glimpse of sadness, but something takes over and masks his whole face. Was it Anger? Guilt? Disgust? I'm not quite sure what it is.
I start walking around looking for a body. I went forwards for quite a bit and turned left and then something caught my eye in the tree.
It was an owl. As a child I always loved owls. I feel like they would be fluffy even though they have feathers.
For once, I don't look down at where I put my feet. And suddenly I face planted.
What the fuck? I look to see what rock I stepped on to make me fall. But it was the body, covered in thick, dark red, blood that formed a pool around the head. A bullet wound in the back of the neck.
Holy shit.

A/N: Right serious question. I need to bake a cake, but the flavour is supposed to be coconut and raspberry. Should I have a vanilla batter or chocolate batter. Coconut icing or raspberry icing and what should be the decoration for it?
All I know is I'm going to make it a circle? What do you guys think will happen?
Who is the other dead body?
