Chapter 3: Dark Side of Poe

Underneath of Pit and the Pendulum, San Diego

The main reason of why the building is called the Pit and the Pendulum is not just your average shop, but also have a chamber underneath the building that is hidden from the public. This is Poe's true Pit and the Pendulum where we can see a Siren been tied up on the table with her staring with fear at a pendulum that is ready to swing. She can hear footsteps to reveal Poe with a raven on his shoulder.

Poe: "Sorry about that; I got customers that is request some stuff. Now where are we?... That's right, tell us what you know about the Sirens plans."

Siren: "I'm not telling you anything. You should bow to the Empress."

Poe: "You don't have the right of refusing here my friend. You see; you're not the only one that went though this, but they don't listen and then they end up there."

Poe is pointing his finger at the outer layer of the chamber to reveal a large amount of skeletons laying in the darkness. The Siren is freaking out and beg for forgiveness. One thing about the skeletons is that their spinal cord is split in half and of course the answer is right above the alive Siren who is about to suffer the same fate if she didn't answer his question.

Poe: "If you lie to me or refuse of any questions than that pendulum is going to be lower faster while it's swinging. Time is ticking."

Poe press the button to begin the swinging while it's slowly lower to the Siren which she ask him question.

Poe: "Why are you and the other Sirens been snooping around here?"

Siren: "We learn that there is a special kind of Wisdom Cube so our orders is to investigate."

Siren spill the beans after she know that death is will highly possible if she doesn't answer Poe's question; so how did this is possible. Let's head back a couple of hours before the Commander and Belfast arrive at the shop.

Rewind
Outskirts of Pit and the Pendulum, San Diego

We can see the similar Siren walking through the dark area of the port where she is avoiding guards and was order to locate the missing Siren units that went to investigate the port, but haven't report in from their patrols. They in the Siren named Beta 6 to located the missing Siren and continue with their mission; so she head to the deep part of the port in San Diego where their last location was at until she bump into a building that looks like a shop called Pit and the Pendulum, but she hide when the door open to reveal KMS Roon coming out of the building with a smile on her face. Siren is scare of her because Roon is a crazy kansen, but she is more terrified about this place as if death has taken over this part of the port. A male kansen say farewell to KMS Roon before she depart from the port with her rig.

Beta 6: "What is their relationship? Looks like those two are enjoying each other's company."

The male kansen has a raven on his shoulder including holding a black cat in his arm purring until the black cat stare right at the Siren which send fears to her body as if the black cat knows that she is standing there watching from distance. The male kansen went back inside while Beta 6 try to figure out how to infiltrate the building and gather information which she notice Poe exit the back of the building with a lantern in his hand and heading out.

Beta 6: "Where is he going?"

Beta 6 is going to follow him out of the port while avoiding been detected.

Time Skip
???, San Diego

Beta 6 continue to follow Poe while been avoiding detection, but looks like the locals greet him with the smile on their face.

???: "Heading out to the graveyard?"

Poe: "Yea, got business there."

???: "Have a nice night."

The two went their separate ways while Beta 6 continue to follow Poe to the graveyard that is huge. The graveyard was made after the earthquake in the late 1920s from Lompoc. Beta 6 continue to follow him through the graveyard which is sending shiver down her spine.

Beta 6(scare): "This is kind of creepy."

She can see Poe standing in front of the gravestone with a statue head on top of the pedestal which he look around to see that no one is watching him except for Beta 6. After he find no one watching him, he grab his Gold Bug from his pocket and insert it to the stone which cause the gravestone to move aside and reveal a staircase that leads down underground. Poe went under so Beta 6 follow him that looks like catacombs.

Time Skip
Catacombs, San Diego

Beta 6 explore the catacombs after she can't find Poe anywhere and the catacombs is like a maze so getting lost can be easy, but she wants to know what is going on here. She continue to explore the catacombs until she notice a door with a raven symbol on it; so she enter the door to reveal a chamber that looks like a holding cell from prisoners, but it was empty.

Beta 6(worry): "Where's is this guy?"

She stop when she hear something knocking on the wall and a cat meowing coming from within the walls. She is scare of where the cat is, but the room is empty; however the meowing is getting louder and louder. She decide to follow the noise to reveal something is odd about the wall which looks like it's out of place and lighter than the others.

Beta 6(confuse): "A hidden area?"

She summon her rig and open fire at the wall to reveal another hidden room, but what she finds sent fear through her. A bunch of dead Sirens and some of them already turn into skeletons, but she also notice that same black cat who is with Poe sending hissing noises at her which send her back until she bump into the male kansen that is behind her.

Poe: "I was wondering who is making Pluto angry. Looks like another sad soul is ready for her death."

And that is how the Siren got capture.
