Chapter 12 : Ghost Ship

USS E.A. Poe, Pacific Ocean

We decide to go back to time where Poe meet Mary for the first time and when she cursed him with the "Red Death" and make him a useless ship. He was traveling the Pacific Ocean to supply Azur Lane against the Sirens, but he decide to go solo for this one since the mission area isn't far off from friendly port.

Poe: "It's a beautiful day traveling the ocean."

It was sunny day when Poe is making his rounds and no Sirens in sight for the time being. Poe is looking at a book of one of Edgar Allan Poe's stories called "Fall of the House of Usher". Poe start reading it, but unknown it him that things are getting foggy all the sudden which Poe start to notice it after lifting his eyes so he can see the island where he need to supply the base, but end up seeing nothing but fog.

Poe: "I thought they say that it's going to be clear today. Where did this fog come from?"

The fog is getting dense and hard to see until Poe notice a ship that is coming out of the fog which he was glad that someone is out with him in this mist.

Poe(relieve): "Looks like I found someone."

But he didn't know is that it was a wooden ship with rip sails on it like a ghost ship which Poe was shock to see an average ghost ship, but he remain calm down and believe that it was nothing but a illusion from the fog.

Poe: "Relax; it's just an illusion."

???: "Illusion you say."

Poe turn around to see a woman with tentacles coming out of her with interest look on her face while her tentacles is preventing Poe's ship from going any further.

Poe: "Who are you?"

???: "My name is Mary Celeste and just as you say or what the public would think. I'm a ghost ship traveling the sea."

Poe: "What do you want with me?"

Mary: "Just want to talk with someone; I didn't bother talk with someone before so I was lucky to run into you. All by yourself and no one is going to bother us."

Mary Celeste hop on board of his ship while her tentacles are crushing the hull of E. A. Poe and the only defense his has is one turret, but hard to do that when the enemy already in her grasp. The situation is dire and without support; he's alone against a woman that look like someone from the depths of the ocean. That is how they meet and he was curse by Mary Celeste after refusing to join her to the depths of the ocean.

Present
The Pit and the Pendulum, San Diego

It was about 5 years since the incident and a fleet of patrols found him all destroyed and his engine was rip out from his hull and was force to get drag back to port where they learn that they can't put a engine in his hull due to the curse that was put on him including the 'Red Death'. Poe was drinking his drink eggnog while thinking back if he have a fleet to protect him, but what's done is done and now he must live with this curse for the rest of his life. He doubt Mary Celeste would remove it from the bottom of her, but at least he has someone important to help him in his time of needs. He is staring at the window and see Roon talking with Z23 about finding some materials for Iron Blood.

Time Skip
8 Years later

We head to Azur Lane base where a building that says The Blood Pit with Iron Blood and Eagle Union flag flying on both side of the door which the building has the mixture of Iron Blood structure including some Eagle Union. We can see the front desk where Roon and E. A. Poe is working on the desk when a couple of shadow figures coming inside the store.

Poe(Happy): "Welcome. What can I get you for?"

I hope you enjoy the short story of E. A. Poe since he doesn't have a lot of history during World War 2 so it's going to be short than the other one; however I think he deserve some spot light. Thank you for reading this story and see ya in my next story.
