"So how was school today sweetheart?" My mom, who I would be lying to for the night asked, taking a light bite of her pasta.
"Good" I answered simply, nervously twirling my pasta round my fork.
"I heard you have an up coming English test tomorrow?" My dad started. "Make sure you come back with an A"
I gave him a simple nod before finally taking a bite of my food. Of course that's all he'll ask about. When's your next test?, how'd you do on your last test?, test this, test that. I'm sure I could come back home with a broken leg and he'll still blow off on me for getting a B on a test.
But at least he gave me an idea to leave dinner early.
"You know, I should probably go study for my English test tomorrow" I pushed my food away as I placed my fork down. "I don't think I studied enough at school"
My mom furrow her brows at my words as she placed down her fork. "What do you mean? You barely even touched your food and just got back from school a few hours ago. How can you just—"
"Erica, let the boy go" My dad quickly cuts in. "If he says he want to study then so be it. Do you prefer him eating or failing his class?" My mom stared at my dad in disbelief. And here comes the argument.
"Well I'll prefer him failing than starving to death" She retorted and my dad was just as ready to shout back.
"Well if he fails he's classes and isn't able to graduate he actually will starve to—"
"It's fine" I abruptly cut into their argument before things actually got heated. "I'll just take some snacks to my room and still study, okay?" I carried my plate to the kitchen and began dumping my leftovers into the bin.
"You should pay more attention on his well-being than his grades, Brian" I heard my mom's worried voice from the dinner table.
"Well how can he pay attention on his well-being when he's out poor on the streets because he failed all his classes because of you?"
I folded my lips as I just wanted to block out their voice and wish they'll just stop arguing for at least an hour.
Dropping my plate into the sink I grabbed a bag of chips from the cupboard then went upstairs and into my room. Tossing the chips onto my bed I plopped down after and grabbed my phone from my side table. As I switched it on I realized I got a message from Brent. Already I knew what he had sent so I just Ignored it.
Brent said he'll be at the party by 9 but I'd rather go by 10:30. After all what was the rush? I was practically forced into going.
The time was just 9:26 so I still had one hour and forty minutes left till I leave. Just enough time for me to study. Maybe I should actually go over my English notes since my dad has already made it a big deal that I have to pass without any imperfection.
Sure I loved to study but sometimes all the pressure on getting perfect scores were just to much.
I grabbed my bag and pulled out my notes onto my study desk. I'll set a timer to tell me when it's 10:20 so I can use the remaining 10 minutes to get dressed. I sat on my chair and began flipping through my notes before grabbing my pen.
One hour forty minutes. I can make that work.
After studying for what only seemed like twenty minutes my alarm went off which made me jump a bit. I nearly forgot about that. Quickly I turned it off as to not raise suspicion to my parents from the music coming from my room.
I took a deep sigh and pulled myself up from my seat then began searching for what to wear. Let me just note to everyone, I don't know exactly what to wear to a party since this was the first one I was going to that didn't involve my parents tagging along so I just picked out a navy blue t-shirt and green, cargo pants. This should be suitable at least.
