Chapter 56

When I get back to Dean, him and AJ are still standing there, staring at each other.

"Guys....?"

They don't snap out of their trances until I go up to them, smacking them both in the face. "Snap out of it!"

They both look at me in surprise, covering their cheeks with their hands.

"How could you fucking sleep with Seth?" Dean snaps.

"Yeah," I butt in, "What even happened?"

She sighs. "Seth wasn't making any progress in getting over you so I took him to a club."

"Why?"

"I don't know. So that maybe he could hook up with somebody and maybe try to make the first step in getting over you."

"So you tried to find him a fuck buddy?" Dean asks.

"Well yeah! But then we both got really drunk and ended up having sex."

"Well, I guess he found a fuck buddy then." I chime from beside the couch. "Also known as my best friend."

"You said you weren't upset."

"And I'm not." I say, taking a step closer. "I just wish it wouldn't have happened. Punk is a great guy and doesn't deserve this."

"I know Charlie! Please, you can't tell him. I'm in love with him, and I can't lose him!"

At this moment, I see something I thought I'd never see. AJ really isn't the crier, but she's bawling right about now.

"Then why did you sleep with Seth?" I challenge.

"We were drunk!"

"And so that makes it okay?"

"No, it doesn't, but..." She rakes her hands through her hair, not knowing what to say. "I didn't want it to mean anything! I didn't even want it to happen!"

"Well, it happened. You can't do anything about that." I say. "But I won't tell. I promise."

Her face lightens up as she runs over to me, pulling me into a hug. "Thank you so much, C." She pulls away, staring into my eyes. "So.....are we okay?"

I smile slightly. "Yeah, we're cool."

Dean looks at us weirdly. "So.....if you guys are done with the girl drama, can we go eat or....."

AJ and I both look at each other, rolling our eyes.

We lead Dean out the door and downstairs to the dining area. I sure hope Brian's gone cause Dean's coming in and he won't be afraid to smash heads when he gets there. On second thought, I hope Brian is still down there.

My hopes are shattered when we reach the dining area and the only table being occupied is by a little old couple in the corner of the room.

Dean, AJ, and I fix breakfast and sit down for the meal.

"So, how's everything?" I try to awkwardly create conversation. I want to tell Dean that I saw Brian this morning. I just want to make sure he's in a good mood first.

"Uh, good. I guess." Dean answers, chomping down on a piece of bacon. "Why? How's everything with you?"

I gesture to my neck cast.....the injury caused by the beast less than 24 hours ago.

"Are you ready for Raw tonight?" Dean asks. I can tell he's trying to scope me out, but I'm perfectly fine. I'm gonna go out there and do my job.

"More ready than ever!" Okay, he seems in an okay mood. Maybe I should tell him now. "So listen, you know how I said Brian showed up at Seth's hotel room days ago?"

Dean's gaze turns to mind as he gets cautious. "Yeah."

"Well.....he was here this morning."

"Here?"

"Like, in here."

"And you saw him?"

"Yes."

"And didn't tell me."

"I'm telling you now!" I defend. "And besides, he didn't hurt me or anything."

"Did he talk to you?"

I can tell Dean's getting angry. The tone of his voice has changed and his face has contorted into mixed emotions.

"Yeah."

"Why? What did he say?"

I can tell he's trying to stay calm before he blows up on me for not immediately going to him.

"He said to enjoy my last few days with you."

"He threatened you?!"

"I don't know what he meant, Dean!"

"It's obvious what he meant!" Okay, now he's snapping. "I don't want that dickhead anywhere around you, and you shouldn't be stupid enough to go anywhere near him!"

"I'm not scared of him!"

"That's not the point. Regardless of whether you're scared or not. He can still try to hurt you!"

I sigh. "I'm sorry."

Dean's face shows confusion and surprise. I'd usually argue back, but I'm sick of arguing with Dean. I love him and he's right. I shouldn't be around Brian after everything he's done.

"Just please," Dean continues, "next time he tries to talk to you, please come to me. I can't have you getting kidnapped again. I just can't."

I nod. Dean's been through a lot. I should spare him more pain or at least try. "Okay."

Raw. I guess it's time to go out there. I am doing a segment by myself to open the show. I'm pretty excited, but also very nervous. And I know Dean and I are thinking the same thing in our heads.

What if Brock comes out?

When my theme song hits, I push these thoughts aside, going out there and being the best I can be.

My neckbrace is fastened tightly and I'm ready to give my promo.

I raise the microphone to my lips. "Last night at the Royal Rumble, history was made." I say, making the crowd erupt in cheers before continuing. "You had the traditional 30-man Royal Rumble match determining the challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. You also had the typical Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship. You had history, and history is what this business is all about!" I lick my lips. "But sometimes, history can only go so far. And last night, a historical figure returned to the WWE. The Rock!" The crowd goes wild. I know I'll have to mention my injury and Brock Lesnar eventually, but what harm does a little stalking do?" The Rock came in and he destroyed Kane and The Big Show. And I guess we saw a little cousin love in the ring involving him and my former good friend, Roman Reigns." There is a mixed reaction from the crowd at the mention of Roman's name. I think they all had their head set on someone else winning. "So Roman Reigns will go on to compete against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion." Oh god, here it is. "And that brings me to Brock Lesnar." The crowd erupts in cheers, louder than I've ever heard before. They must be really happy I'm hurt. Wow, tough crowd. "Yeah yeah yeah, cheer for him all you want." I say, holding my ground. "What Brock Lesnar did last night is out his hands on the official. And for that, Brock Lesnar must pay." I say. "And so....."

I'm interrupted by Brock Lesnar's theme song.
