Chapter 63

Dean's POV

I stare at her in awe. The fact that she knew this makes me even more shocked.

"So all this time we've been trying to figure out why Bray's so obsessed with you, you knew?" I ask. Anger arises in my voice. She should've said something.

"No I didn't! It never once came to my mind that this could really all make sense."

"It doesn't make fucking sense!" I shout, rising to my feet. "It doesn't make sense at all."

"Calm down, Dean!" She begs. "I didn't know! I swear. I didn't know it had anything to do with that bracelet."

"Yeah, or your dead grandmother!" I shout.

Roman stays quiet for a moment. "It actually does make a little bit of sense."

We both turn our attention to him. He's out of his mind, and I'm almost positive Charlie's thinking the same thing.

"I mean, think about it! Bray always talks about how Abigail saved him or whatever, but he always talks as if she's dead. Then he starts talking about this bracelet of yours that belonged to your grandmother. This all makes sense now."

"No it doesn't. How did my grandmother even know Bray?" Charlie asks.

Roman sighs. "Look, I don't have all the answers. But the answers I do have make a lot of sense. You're Abigail's granddaughter and Bray thought you were Abigail when you wore that bracelet."

"And so he attacks me because of a bracelet?"

"I think he's trying to find that sense of security. He says Abigail saved him....comforted him. Now, I'm not sure what that means, but maybe he wants you to live up to his expectations. Maybe he wants to find comfort again and that's why he's so obsessed with you." Roman says, making my head spin even more. "Do you look like your grandmother in anyway? Or act like her?"

Charlie shrugs. "I don't remember much. But I know hat my mom always used to tell me I act just like her. She also says we have the same noses."

"That must be his connection." Roman goes on again. "He must see her in you, and he's trying to make a connection. That's why he wants you to return the bracelet to him. He wants that bracelet so Abigail can somehow always be with him."

"That makes no fucking sense!" I snap.

"No Dean, it doesn't. But this is Bray we're talking about. Not a lot of things make sense in his world."

"Well, she's not returning that fucking bracelet!"

"Don't you see, Dean? Bray doesn't want to hurt her. Because he knows if he hurts her, he'll lose that comfort. He doesn't want anything from her, but that bracelet. Don't you see? This is how we end this for good."

Charlie looks over at me. A worried expression crosses her face, but I can tell she wants to do this.

"And what about Brian?" I ask. "Where does he for in in this story? He has nothing to do with this Abigail chick."

"Now him......he might really just be a desperate son of a bitch. He must really be in love with her. Maybe a little too much in love."

"She's not going out there alone."

"That's the only way this is gonna work!"

"I'll go with her!" I protest. "I'll stay hidden. They won't even know I'm there."

"But you're wrong, Dean." Roman says. "Bray knows when someone's messing with his plans. You show up and this may all fall apart."

"Look, I can't let her get kidnapped again!"

"And you won't. We'll have her carry a tracking device and microphone. We'll listen into the whole thing. And if they take her, we'll know exactly where to go." He says, rising to his feet like me. "But they won't hurt her, Dean. They've proven time and time again that they won't."

"He's right."

Her voice almost sounds foreign. Damn! Now it's two against one. She always wants to go out herself in dangerous situations and that's how she gets in trouble.

Well I'm her boyfriend. I have the final say.

"No."

"Dean....."

"Don't argue with me Charlie!" I snap. "This is not happening, okay? You're not going out there. I won't let you."

"You won't be able to stop me."

"You wanna bet?" I challenge.

"Dean, I'll be fine!"

"You always say that."

"Well fuck you then cause I'm going whether you want me to or not!" She snaps, not making much argument before passing me and heading to the bedroom.

I look over at Roman. "You realize this is all your fucking fault, right?"

Roman shrugs. "This is what needs to happen. This is what will happen. Face it Dean. There's nothing you can do to stop it."
