Lando's POV
I entered the club later than the rest of the guys and, well Natalia. Carlos had asked me if I wanted to come here with them. I just told him I was running late and would arrive later. I didnt feel like sitting in a car with her, hearing her gloat about her podium. My podium. I should have been up there.
Now the clock was eleven thirty.
I walked zigzag trough the club to avoid walking into everyone in my way. I went straight to the bar without saying hello to anyone first. I really needed a drink. I ordered a glass of whisky. I didn't like it at all but it did the job. As I waited for it I leaned on the bar, facing the dance floor.
My eyes wandered over the people dancing, having the time of their lives. But my eyes froze on two people. They were standing close together. He held her around her waist and whispered things in her ear. It angered me for some reason. Couldn't she just do her job? Did she have to get involved with Charles?
I saw she nodded to something he'd asked and he walked over to me. Or the to the bar, more specifically. He ordered a drink, most likely for her and then he stood there waiting for it. The girl behind the counter set down my glass next to me before starting to make whatever Charles had asked for. I downed the glass in two seconds and then turned to him.
I had promised Carlos to be civil with Natalia. He wasn't thrilled when he heard our argument on Thursday. And that was all on me even. I tried to stop myself from saying something, but I really couldn't.
"Does her brother enjoy you dating his little sister?" Charles turned to look at me. He cracked a smile and gave me a bro hug.
"Lando! I didn't think you'd make it." I raised my eyebrows sarcastically for a second. "What do you mean?" I nodded to Natalia who was now talking to Daniel. Charles followed my eyes and I saw the smile that formed on his lips. Ugh
"We're not dating, really. She didn't want to upset her brother. We're just friends, for now." He said the last two words quietly but I heard them loud and clear.
Charles was approached by Max who started to talk. I saw the bartender set down the glass behind Charles but he didn't seem to notice. As he was too busy with Max I grabbed the glass from he bar counter. Then he turned to look at me. He didn't have much time to say anything.
"Don't worry I'll get it to her." Then I raised the glass to him and walked up to the brunette who stood talking to Daniel still.
Once they saw me, they both went quiet. Daniel patted me on the back and smiled before walking off. Natalia had an annoyed look on her face as soon as she saw me. I handed her the drink.
"You stole my podium."
She squinted her eyes at me. "It was yours to take back. You just didn't have the speed." How did she always have an answer? It infuriated me. She always seemed to get the last word.
She accepted the drink and took a sip of it. "Did you get mute, or what?" I felt the nagging in me created by the question lingering in my mind.
Don't ask
Don't ask
Don't ask
"Are you dating Charles?" Her face turned into a frown, like she didn't expect the question at all. Then she turned into a smirk.
"Does that bother you?" That means yes. Of course she snaps back at me. I should have figured. I should have stopped myself. I didn't want her to think I cared. Cause I definitely didn't.
"No," I started. She was smirking all over the place. "I should just warn him, that's all," I shrugged. She raised her head, still smirking. She looked like she knew better than what I was telling her.
